next BOTM -- played with update?

Is the HOF mod for the new update going to be available for the next BOTM -- or should we expect to play the older version.

I would work on the assumption that it'll be the older version unless/until news breaks that a new version of the HOF mod has become available. Since the BOTM 08 pregame discussion is due in just a few days, I think that makes it almost certain it'll be played on the old patch.

For that reason I personally haven't installed the new patch, and I'd suggest that people wanting to play BOTM 08 also don't install it for now.

Before you do any of that, do you have any need for a dual install? If so, you might want to copy the 3.17 folder under a modified name before you re-install the base (and does anyone know if that is best done with an uninstall first?).

I have never heard of uninstalling the patch ...

I too have never heard of uninstalling the patch, and on quickly checking my Add/Remove programs option in the Control Panel, the existing patches don't seem to be listed as separate programs you can uninstall, so my gut instinct would be that you probably can't.

I recently re-installed (due to computer melt-down) and updated with 3.13 which very oddly was still listed as the most recent version on the Firaxis official site. But they had all the previous patches available, too if you want to play in 3.04 or something.

Did you unistall before reinstall, or just reinstall over the old stuff? If not uninstall ... did that work out OK?

Actually I reformatted the hard-drive. So take that as meaning "fully uninstalled first".

The lengths you go to purely in order to be able to play BOTMs is not bad. Next time, of course, I expect you to buy a completely new computer system that you can install BtS on patched to the correct point.

I forgot that I have the older version on my laptop. I rarely use it because I'm not traveling much these days and I always forget the CDs at home or in the laptop anyway. Still, perhaps I can play if I want. Or, perhaps I'll wait.

I have completed my dual install with my old 3.13 copied to my D: drive, and new versions updated to 3.17 on my C: drive...
Which ever way it is presented, I am anxiously waiting and READY TO GO!
