Normally I would play on tuesday but I had stuff to do and I might even not be able to play tonight but tomorrow (thursday-evening) I'll play. So please don't worry that I'm forgetting to play. ;)

To make best use of our President's time, let's summarize the decisions here:

SSC Gems rename to Elysium and build a Wonder. In ten turns, the new worker uses the Silk. (The Archer is free until then)

TFalls Horse wait one turn, then dash to RC. It does not appear necessary to spend gold on the Warrior -- both cities can remain productive. Btw, we're earning $5/turn. Having a Warrior, TFalls then builds a Settler. Use $8 IPRB at every opportunity.

Dellham to build Settler. Consider using $4 IPRB at every opportunity, Warrior=10, Phalanx=20. So we are not required to recall an exploring unit: Workers on Whales and Water. This reduces Food a bit, and boosts Science -- continuous Grassland Shield River would result in rioting.

Any comments, objections or additions?

Foriegn Office Summary:

As no units are required to return to cities to rehome/garrison, each unit carries on as it was. The southern chariot will pop the hut, and hopefully the legions will locate Uppsala and Bombay.

Those who have voted have chosen to pursue the glories of Philosophy, so our tech queue should look like this:

Code of Laws (currently researching)
Monarchy (switch government at first available Oedo year)
Writing (diplomats and libraries)
Literacy (Great Library and makes Republic available)
Mysticism (I won't even mention it ;) )
Philosophy

Although no votes were cast for it, researching Trade had some support in the discussions as well. I will start a thread concerning what alternative techs we want should our choices not be available, but until that discussion is complete, we'll assume it will be:

Currency (Marketplace)
Trade (Caravans, Marco Polo's)

Not sure when you're going to move, and who else may vote or comment on the new None Settler, but as of now the vote is 60-70% for City on E S Pure Green:

Move East, Road on Grassland Shield, move South to the Pure Green, build a new City, start a unit. Warrior, Phalanx, Settler, we'll need to decide later. Glad you waited for discussion.

So it seems the Chariot is stuck exploring the Black. I haven't looked at the exploration threads, but that decision has not been affected... All summaries above appear to still be the will of the people. Citizens: Please discuss elsewhere, not here.

After carefully polling the will of the people, our research goals for the immediate and near future shall stand thusly:

Currently researching Code of Laws
Monarchy
Writing
Literacy
Mysticism
Philosophy

Alternative techs to be researched should none of the above be available:

Currency
Trade
Map Making
in that order of priority

Please bear in mind that this tech path will leave us with only the Great Library for RC to switch to if it is close to finishing the Colossus. Can I suggest that we make Pottery the option before Writing so that we can grab that most vital of wonders - the Hanging Gardens. I definitely do not want the Great Library as it will totally cock up our chosen tech paths forever after and we'd probably miss Philosophy if we were to have it. A free tech we can choose is far better than one we can't and which will add several turns on to whatever we actually want to research.

Hanging Gardens definitely! Marco's is nice, and one of the last that the AI goes for initially but HG has to have priority. In another post Gary said that the Colossus in RC would take 37 turns to complete at the rate of shields produced then. Preusmably it will take fewer turns now that the city has grown. Therefore we have to get an alternative wonder in under 30 turns (those you played, and any fewer with the growth). At our current rate of 7 turns per tech, which will decrease when Dellham builds its settler, then that gives us 5 or 6 techs to research (though probably 5). That is why I have called for Pottery to follow Monarchy, especially if we can get it at our current tech rate and then continue on the proposed path after we have this guaranteed get-out.

The next set of turns will be played tomorrow (saturday):
- rename Reneaux to Marl Downs
- Northern chariot will return to Elysium
- Settler will be rushed in ThunderFalls
- Legions will explore the great black on the west
- Research will focus on monarchy and pottery

Due to lack of time on my side and to allow more discussion on where to go next (especially on wonder production discussions haven't finished by far) I will not play tuesday but wednesday-evening.

Er, you may not actually be President next Wednesday. :)

The elections will be held from Friday to Tuesday over the coming weekend, and the polls will close on Tuesday morning (GMT) so you may not be President then. I can't speak for the populace or how they will vote but if those who will be running for the Presidency want to discuss whether you should play a turn whenever is best for all of you then I reckon that'd be a good idea. But you've been a good President so if you were to run again then you'd probably be re-elected. :)
