Hi, im having an isssue where my pantheon is not giving me the bonus, I have oral tradition but plantation is producing no culture. Anyone know what might be causing this?

yes tile is worked, its wine and have built a plantation. its my 1st plantation nr my capital, im in the process of building another plantation nr my 2nd city to see if the same issue is there too...

I think I had a similar issue as Ethiopia once with "Religious Idols", it worked just fine with two Silvers immediately nearby but then when I connected and worked another tile just in the 3 tile radius later in the game, it gave no pantheon bonus.

Obviously the situations are far from identical, but perhaps there's some underlying bug in common with some of the founder beliefs that apply tile bonusses.

strange, it worked fine with other plantations nr my 2nd city, and now ive founded a religion the bonus has appeared for that wine plantation nr my captial.

Pantheon behaviour is kinda confusing when full-blown religions start making an appearance.

When you first create a pantheon, all your cities automatically get it. If your city is exposed to any foreign religious pressure at all, it is considered a contested city and you lose your pantheon bonus.

When founding new cities, they all automatically get the pantheon until you establish a full-blown religion. Any cities founded after you establish a religion get nothing; they have to be converted just like any other city. (i.e. missionaries, prophets, or religious pressure)

There's one final quirk about the pantheoon -> full religion transition. Normally, missionaries have a limited strength. They can only convert 5 or 6 citizens. Or maybe even less... I'm not sure of the formula, and if they have to fight other religions, they convert even fewer citizens. However, if a missionary attempts to convert one of your cities with an active pantheon, he automatically converts at least half of the citizens, ensuring that your religion will be the dominant religion after a single conversion attempt. I've converted cities with 16 citizens to my religion with a single conversion attempt when they had my pantheon. Similarly, even if your city is contested, (thanks to foreign religious pressure) your missionaries automatically convert them in a single attempt. If a foregin religion is dominant, your missionaries have to fight for citizens like normal.

TL;DR - your city probably didn't have the pantheon.

One point Plumfairy didn't mention - there is one other way you can end up without a Pantheon in a city. If your city ends up with an equal number of Pantheon followers and Religion followers (they are indeed different) it will be considered to have no religion or pantheon. So you can have a city that has a Pantheon, and while your religion spreads you lose it for a few turns while it transitions to your religion. Pretty awkward, unfortunately :(

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense now. It was my capital which founded the pantheon but the religious pressure from my neighbor must have stopped the bonus until I founded my religion.
