No Great Prophet?

My faith is at 251/200 but it says Great People Available: None. Why is this? How do I get a prophet?

Not sure if this is related but i had a situation where the game would not allow me to enhance my religion after i founded it. It auto spawned a GP but never auto spawned a 2nd no matter how much faith i got.

OP: It randomly spawns; once you're above the threshold each turn there is a chance for a GP to spawn in your borders.

Yig: Maybe you just got extremely unlucky and the game never rolled one for you? It is theoretically possible, just statistically quite unlikely.

What Bad Wolf says.

Also, I thought you were going to refer to this stupendously stupid wording that shows up with the Shoshone unique ability. Found this on reddit.

The Great Prophet is actually 60 faith or something like this. Congratulations devs on a superb "what were they thinking" moment.

Odd thing is the tooltip did not mention anything about the required amount of faith i needed. It simply told me what Great People i could buy with my faith.

Then that indeed sounds like a bug/glitch. I'd report that, there's somewhere on this forum you can do that right? If you've still got a copy of the saved game in question that might help the peeps at Firaxis figure out what went wrong and how to prevent it from happening to others.

Yea, i plan on submitting it. The only other bug iv ran into is not getting an allied city states resource till 160 turns later even though it appeared on the map as being improved. That was fun.

Rub'Rum: It's always been like that. It's meant to be a large amount of faith that would help you achieve your first great prophet. I think it goes as high as 200 on Epic speed. True they could have worded it better but that's basically what it's for.

It's not bad wording on the faith ruins - it's been there since G&K. You found a great prophet (shaman) in the ruins who is offering wisdom in the form of faith bonuses. It is clear that you get 60 faith as the result.

I play on Epic, the bonus is usually 90 as far as I recall. (That's if you've already discovered a Pantheon; tends to be more like 20 if you haven't.)

Yes, the message would tell you you met a great prophet when popping a faith ruin (if you paid attention to the text, which I didn't after a year of playing G&K!), but you never actually had to interact with a screen that basically told you "Click here for Great Prophet! WHEE!".

Maybe "find a great prophet" would be better? The problem is that list uses the same wording as the pop up. It's good for flavor, but it's obviously confusing in this context.

It happenned to me in G&K... I almost get crazy and desperate but the next turn I get my Great Prophet...

Is it possible that all of the religions have already been founded? I believe there's a maximum number of religions allowed in a game equal to half the number of civs.

I've never actually had that happen to me, so I don't know what the behavior is. But if no religions are available, and you have no religion in your cities, it makes sense not to give you one.

I disagree relative be half number of the civs in the game. Here in my actual game, exists 22 civs and only 6 religions can be founded.

Well the number I think is based on map size, the max that can be founded should be 7. And that is on large and huge maps. But I still think the OP's game has max founded.

Yea, that sucks. I thought it will give a GP but got 90 faith (Epic Speed). this is me when I got 90 faith :gripe:

I once got over 450 faith when waiting for the second GP in a standard map, with the 300 faith threshold. I just bought a Pagoda to avoid that ridiculous waste of 150+ faith :p
