Or Half-Life 2 Episodes = Half-Life 3:
Eurogamer: Why did you change the name from Aftermath? We liked the name.

Gabe Newell: Errr... I... I think that Aftermath was almost a temporary name. I always thought of it as Episodes One through Three because that's how we planned the products out. I think people thought we'd need a name for them, and Aftermath ended up being more confusing than helpful.

Probably a better name for it would have been Half Life 3: Episode One, but these three are what we're doing as our way of taking the next step forward, but Half-Life 2 was the name we used.

I am very disappointed of the laziness of Valve. That way they don't need to add much new content to the game because the episodes are like expansion packs. Of course this could be just marketing trick to gain more attention for Episodes but no one knows for sure...

Like the interview said, if it was a true sequel it would be years and years away. This way we get more Half-Life fast and Episode 1 is alot of fun so it all works out.

And I don't see how claiming the Epidodic trilogy is more like Half-Life 3 would increase attention for the games.

Milking cash...that all.

I think it's an interesting new way of selling games, like NWN's premium modules. It's entirely possible that both Valve AND gamers could benefit . . .

What! No way......
I don't think there's a problem with it. Plus, then they can avoid the situation where they just have way too damn many expansions.

There wil be a Half Life 3. Half life 2 was way to successful to leave the series at that. These Episodes are just the typical expansion packs, its been said each one will focus on different things (1 on Alyx, 2 on freeform gameplay etc).

I need to get Half-Life or Half-Life 2 (or both) this summer.

I got Half-life Source with Half life 2 when I bought it.

But Truronian's right. Half-Life Source comes with Half-Life 2. My understanding is it's the same game as Half-Life, just with improved graphics and physics or something.

Half-Life Source doesn't come with every version of Half-Life 2, only Half-Life 2 Platinum or something similar.

Ah . . .

The message I have entered is too short. I've been asked to lengthen my post to at least ten characters . . .

HAlf-life 2 GOTY edition comes with half-life source, theres only two diffrences between the original and source. The water looks nicer and the headcrabs only do one damage now.

But while were on the subject Half-life 2 was freekin awesome, I still play "Follow Freeman" over and over again.
