I just got my Civ 4 SE which I preordered in order to get the special package. When I insert the cd the expected splash window comes up for Civ 4 with the options "Install", "Read Me", and "Exit". I click Install and I get an installer for Adobe Reader 5.0. If I allow the installer to proceed AR5 installs, the installer exits, and then nothing.
I explored the Disk 1/Install cd and found that there is no Civ4 installer. There is an installer for Macromedia. There is a setup icon with a Fireaxis icon, but it intstalls...you guessed it...AR5.
Anybody else have any experience with the Special Edition?
Update: I finally got through to tech support and it turns out that the Install option on the splash screen is broken. The user has to open the cd (with My Computer) and manually install. The icon labeled Macromedia is the correct setup.exe to install the game. When the readme file refers to using "setup.exe" it is the Macromedia file to which it is referring.
Frankly, this is stuff I never wanted or needed to know. This is messed up!
