No Stats On GOTM.

I have an idea I would like to open a discussion on.
Would it make GOTM more interesting if no stats. were published on the game before it starts t.i.: Map size [unknown], World Age [unknown], Barbarian activity [unknown], # of rival civ´s [unknown], etc. etc.

This is how I play my single games right now. everything random (including my civ).
 
Well, after about 50 turns later, you will know anyway.

But do you think GOTM would be more interesting playing that way?

Why bother with the map darkness in the game at all then... you´ll know it eventually anyway. My question is, would it make the game more INTERESTING not knowing the stats. I tend to think it would even if it´s just for 50 turns. That´s 50 turns of a bit more suspense and game fun, also it adds a bit of reality to the game. Nobody knew 4000bc what other civ´s they would encounter or how large a proportion oceans were of the world´s surface.

There is another aspect to it, I tend to choose my tactics by what I know about the map stats. fx.: I would research towards mapmaking right away if I knew there would be 80% ocean. And so on and so forth. It would decrease a certain advantage a player has on the AI.
 
We've already done that before, Baldrek. And we'll do that in the future too. ;)

Some things are sometimes random, and sometimes everything's random. I almost decide random what will be random. :crazyeye:
 
Baldrek: That depends. Knowing those things make you decide on your strategy from the beginning of the Game. If you don't bother to think about them then you will be disadvantaged as others will and probably score more than you.

It would be interesting yes. But as Matrix sais "randomly random"
