No Treasure for Pirates

Ok, I played the Peglegs and forwarded to the Swashbucklers (Eclipse).

BTW: There is not much to report yet, but for the future: do we need to report Pirate actions? Most (or all?!) their units have "hidden nationality", so I guess we just keep silent about what they did?

The answer is "No" in regards to reporting "Pirate" activity.

Although you may do so if you wish, for example a "Pirate Ship" becomes well promoted and well known and you want to boast about it or you have capture a French "Captain" and want to get a Ransom. (Note) Peace may need to occur in some situations.

Also please take some time to name your ships and those land units you wish to separate from the normal units.

British turn sent to Lanzelot

Ah after the Swashbuckler turn I have to quit and restart the game to load the French turn. Note, I did not see AI moves at least not this turn

T001, Feb. 1656:

The conflict with the Netherlands now enters a hot phase: a small Dutch fleet is sighted near Plymouth and shelled by two English ships. The question for the moment is: will the Dutch captain now turn around or continue their advance within the range of the heavy guns of Plymouth?

In Africa Dutch troops advance towards the English colony of the Slave Coast. A Frigate is ordered into that area to support the ground troops there.

In the Caribbean Seas the English campaign continues with another success: Bonaire is shelled by a Corvette, and the defending Dutch musketman defeated by a musketeer. Bonaire is now English! The Virgin Islands are taken over without a fight.

I was able to open Jarovid's turn and change his password but I saved immediately but this skipped his turn. Turn then sent to PegLegs
If there is a problem let me know

Capt'n Mad Jack Rackhem signals a message to Capt'n Black Henry Scarlett:
"Invitation to come aboard my flagship. Important matters to talk over. Plenty of Rum available. Will you come?"

GPS T001 to Swashbucklers/Eclipse

Ok, talking about business: we had the idea of dividing these hunting grounds into two equal parts. Less water to cover for each of us and more booty to be expected for both of us...!

Also there are rumors about a third party trying to fish in our waters! Don't know about you, but I say: that ain't no good for business... How about paying their treasure island a little visit and relieving them of their "earthly burdens"...? Difficulty is only: we heard it is quite far away from here and these guys are not exactly yellow bellies... :( But then: we are neither, and neither are you, and we ain't afraid of nobody, not even of Davy Jones himself!

Cheers!

Glad to meet you, how shall I address you? Mad Jack, Captain Rackhem or something else?

Arr I see you don't water your Rum very much, that tells me you are trying to make a good impression or you truly want to be known for the good stuff.

Ok you're getting right done to business, well me and the Lads are definitely willing to discuss a few treaties but let us have another round or two first

Cheers Gulp Belch ok lets get the things that make men bleed far from our reach and have a peaceful talk. I see, two separate territories for booty, I recon you are referring to all of those Govenor's daughters that's not a bad idea, but if not, there are No Treasure for Pirates, only Swashbucklers Arrr!!! Just kidding aye lads.
But we are few and so are you, and if any of mine or your ships are sunk or captured then that territory becomes open water or at least more open to sailing safely across her. I can agree with this but what do you suggest? I see terms like this only lasting a limited amount of time for which it must be agreed upon once again.

There is another matter I'd like to discuss. I can tell by your accent that you are British, are you Loyal to their King? If so then if I Capture a British Vessel will the British King expect you to hunt me down and hang me? Likewise, how do you hope I'll react towards skirmishes occurring with the French? Yes I hail from France or at least that is who bought these ships.

Ok another round before we tackle those other Pirates. No, we don't see how we can kill the Undead or already dead Pirates but we can certainly give chase and signal you of their location and heading. Let's call it a day and resume these discussions again real soon, shall we?

Ships and units given unique names.

Governor of Port de Paix receives a report 3 Buccaneers and Caption Black Henry Scarlett appear on their shared border, communication attempts with them yields no knowledge of their purpose. Matchlock Musketman Havoc fortifies Port de Paix.

T002, March 1656:
Dutch ships near Plymouth are bombarded by our Navy with medium success.

After bombardment by a Frigate, St.Maarten is conquered by English troops.

(Will continue the talk with Black Henry tomorrow. Too late now...)

So my dear friend Black Henry, I see that you have a pretty clear picture of the crucial points.

But we are few and so are you, and if any of mine or your ships are sunk or captured then that territory becomes open water or at least more open to sailing safely across her.
Exactly that was our thinking. If both of us are trying to cover the entire stretch of water from Florida to Port-of-Spain, our scarce forces will be thinned out, chances of finding a prize slim and chances of actually capturing the prize even slimmer...

And yes, any agreement that we may decide upon, is of course temporary, and then we can think about it again, whether we want to extend it, modify/improve it or abandon it. So anyway, the idea we had, is to divide the Seas of the West Indies in such a way as to take advantage of the already existing French and English settlements in that area. (They can be quite useful for hiding as well as for reconnaissance.) That would mean that we sail the waters between Fort St.Augustin and Nassau, you then take care of the stretch between Crooked Island and St.Kitts, we then again roam the waters from Virgin Island to Antigua, followed by another Swashbuckler zone from Goudeloupe to Port-of-Spain.

At the borders of these zones we could cooperate and split the proceedings 50-50. What do you say?

Fighting actively against the Undead may indeed be a bit beyond our power, and they are quite far away. But I talked to the King of England and he agreed to dispatch a Flotilla of Warships and check out how strongly they are defended. If perhaps the Crown of France has a few Ships to spare as well that could join this mission? (Judging by your bad accent, we reckon you may have tight bonds with the "Frogs"?) Which leads us directly to your other crucial point: yes, we are indeed loyal to the Crown of England. However, the King is far away and his word does not count that much anymore, when it finally reaches these islands here at the end of the world... ;)
But nevertheless, in order to not annoy our benefactor too much, we refrain from molesting English ships and settlements. (They are quite poor anyways...) And we would be willing to also keep our hands off French ships and settlements, if you do the same with the "Lobsters"...

Aye, I guess that's enough to think over for now,
Have another round!
Mad Jack

(Side note off topic: I think it is historically incorrect to talk of "the British" or a "British King" in 1656. In those days the three Kingdoms England, Scotland and Ireland were still separate Kingdoms (even though most of the time one King wore all three crowns in personal union). The term "Great Britain" was not used until 1707, when the Kingdoms of England and Scotland were merged. Then in 1801 Ireland also joined in, and the official name of that country became "United Kingdom". And in 1922 Ireland seceded again from the Union upon which the most commonly used term became again just "Great Britain".
And who knows: following this week's events I think it is quite likely that now Scotland will secede, too, so they can again rejoin the European Union. :mischief: The Scots are pretty pro-European, as far as I know.)

I didn't really know, I was just using what this scenario called them. Ok I will refer to them as England/English
Cheers

Nothing much to report except minor uprising in Cadiz.

We would like France to give explanation about its warships in our waters.

GPS to English Pirates, or was it Pirate Englishmen, not much difference anyway.

This comment is premature as it is actually the Swashbuckler's :yup: turn.

King Pierre has no memory of, or knows nothing about a French Warship in Spanish waters. If you can tell me what "waters" you are referring to I will certainly explain.
(For future reference we must be much more detailed referring to a City name or a "Pic" uploaded that shows something questionable.) I do not recommend attaching a pic to this thread as it takes up your personal allocation of space and eventually gets removed And please pay attention Unit and Ship names.
I currently use Photobucket but I don't recommend actually now because they seem to have upgraded their advertising from last year. If you have a picture host site you use or recommend please let me take a look at it.

Black Henry's turn
Rumors reach Black Henry that Buccaneers and Pirate ships attack French and Spanish cities, names he heard was Santo Domingo or something like that and Port de Paix but we all know how reliable rumors are. Although a good bad Pirate knows when he should capitalize on something so he says if these rumors are true then these Pirates would leave peacefully if they were give a sack of GOLD 10 gold each Buckaneer.

The Ship "Black Henry Scarlett" sails to the Santo Domingo Bay and confirms the rumors are true and drops anchor and lowers its "Jolly Roger" and awaits the City's Governor to respond. With the Jolly Roger down anything is possible.
