No Uranium, No Way

I was playing as Egypt, standard map, once I discovered atomic theory only one source of uranium appeared on the entire map and unfortunately it was not on my land. Has anybody else ever seen? Is this normal and to be expected?::confused:
 
Only when generating resources in the world builder. It places exactly one source of every strategic and luxury resource - plenty of bonus resources ie cows and bananas though. Very annoying.

You may want to talk to the guy who had a game with no/very little iron. His thread is here somewhere.
 
I was playing a king game on a small map and way behind in technology and was receiving Uranium from a CS, but could not even use it. I think India patriated that CS for the Uranium, so it may have been the only tile available on the map.
 
Resource distribution is a remarkably poor area od this game. I find that luxury resources are not that well distributed either.
 
I'd like to see luxuries more localized so that the Civ on the other side of the world or continent has a low probability of possessing the same luxury as you do and vise versa. I hate it when I play Continents and finally sail to the other side of the world only to discover that no one needs any of my luxuries because they are in abundance on their continent too. Localized luxuries would create more trade and war incentives.

That's odd, because I find that very situation in most of my games. Not all, but I would estimate a good 80% of them involve each Civ with a "primary luxury". It is fun in some ways, inducing trade and such. But it can also be a big problem when you have sullied up relations, no-one wants to trade with you, and you are stuck with 7 Cotton and not much else.

well uranium is usually an extremely rare resource. On empires where I have 20-30% of the map, I might have 50 iron and 40-60 coal, but I very likely have fewer than 10 uranium.

Rare is one thing, but in my instance there was one tile on the entire map and it was for 6 uranium...more like close to extinction...uranium is an endangered resource I guess

But isn't this a part of what makes Civ games in general so replayable?

Resource scarcity changes things, and fast. You don't need Uranium to win the game... but if you want it (in that specific game), you are going to have to pry it out of the cold dead hands of whoever currently holds it. And so does everyone else.

I like that sometimes a resource is rare. Especially Uranium. In my opinion, Uranium should be 1 or 2 per tile, MAX. It should also only spawn in 2-4 spots over the entire world. Nuclear Missles should be the exception, not the rule.

It certainly is what makes the game great, I just thought it was unusual for only one single tile to have uranium on a standard map. I also agree the tiles should be 1 to 2 at max and between 4-6 tiles for a standard map, maybe a couple more or less for larger and smaller maps.
