What mistakes I had made on this start?

You look fine, with a good tech lead. Tech for space, shouldn't be hard. I would flip into bureau and OR, and spread hinduism to all your cities. Other than that, I would have had a stronger economy, but I hate water maps and that might make a difference.

Not asking for advice earlier (although you've come out of the early game pretty well)

The islands to the east look pretty rich, and probably need some cities on them.

Civics? You don't seem to be using hereditary rule, and haven't swapped in Civil Service yet. (Nor a religious civic for that matter, but I didn't look closely to see how well your state religion had spread).
