I've created the poeple Engelsmännen and Fransmännen, which is what we call English and French in Swedish. This has caused a problem with the city list. "ä" doesn't seem to be a valid symbol in the names, i.e. the game works fine, except that it can't make the connection between civilization and citylist. Is there some way to go around this. I have 2.42.

Couldn't you use 'ae', most people know that's the same as 'ä'.

BTW, I thought you Swedes used the 'æ' for that sound, just as we do in Denmark...?

I've never seen 'æ' being used in Swedish.
'Ä' isn't neccecarily the same as 'æ' neither.

'Æ' ('æ' in capital) is a key on our Danish keyboards, and yes it is the same as 'ä'. I know that for sure. But ok, I just thought you used it too...

In Swedish we use å, ä and ö, in Danish you usae å(?),æ and ø:)

Nobody knows how to go around this problem? I might have to change the names to Angler and Franker instead, but that is not as good.

You used a Ä in the citylist title, and a ä in the rules.txt, right?
Don't use the capitalised version, but just use the lowercase character in the citylist title as well.

E.g. "Bäbylonians" in the rules.txt, in combination with "@BÄBYLONIANS" in the city.txt doesn't work... But "Bäbylonians" in the rules, and "@Bäbylonians" in the citylist works wonderfully.

I guess this is simply because the built-in functions that convert ASCII characters to their lower/uppercase equivalent, only work in the normal alphabetic range, i.e. from A to Z and a to z.
Civ2 tries to match the two different names by converting both to lower/uppercase... This doesn't work for the Ä and ä so it doesn't find a match.
