Norton 2009 problems?

Hi, I recently (two days ago) updated my anti virus to Norton 2009. Now, when I attempt to start the game, I get the message "Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application". When I click "OK", it exits Civ IV.

It doesn't matter how I start the game - from the Start menu, the desktop icon, by inserting the disk in the drive, or using Windows Explorer to run the game from the directory listing - same result.

Norton support was prompt, but seem more keen on blaming it on Microsoft than anything else...

Has anybody seen this problem? Or have a solution? Help! I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms!

I'll just say right now that I have Norton Internet Security 2009 and Civ IV works fine...i'm not sure what the problem could be...:dunno:

it is a safedisk issue and it is possible that Norton prevents safedisk from working properly - did you try it with norton turned off?

I tried turning off anti-virus, but same symptom. Thanks anyway - any other ideas?

does any of this help?

is this win xp or vista?

Its XP (can't stand Vista, I'm planning on skipping straight to Windows 7). None of the things on the Windows Support page worked ... but I couldn't download the most promising one - SafeDisc Driver Fix - because Macrovision have "improved" their site, the link on the Microsoft page is wrong, and I can't find a download section on the Macrovision site at all...

Do you know anywhere else I might download it from? I tried a Google, but found only sites with the old link to Macrovision!

:hmm:
the update should be included in one of the Windows updates of months ago - so it should not be necessary anymore.
Is windows updated?

I have automatic update turned on and Windows thinks its at SP3... do you know what the Macrovision file is called so I can check if its there?
