(NOT A BUG) AI has Archery without Hunting

BTS 3.02

1. Load the save file
2. Press F4 for the Foreign Advisor
3. Select tech screen
4. Choose Lincoln

I noticed Lincoln has Archery, but does not have Hunting. (Not sure if it is default possible to pop a tech from a goody hut without having the prereq tech)

Of course you can get techs from goody huts where you don´t have the prerequisites.

It is not uncommon to get techs that are a little bit further down the tech tree from the techs you esearch

Don't know which difficulty your game is, all AIs get Archery for free on Monarch and higher.

I got archery from a hut once or twice. It's rare, but it happens.

You're playing on Monarch. As already said, AIs on Monarch get archery for free at, without necessarily having hunting. I think they also get an archer to start, so it makes sense.

OK, my mistake. I am playing on Monarch, but was not aware the AI starts with Archery (even without Hunting).

Does the AI really start with Archery? I never knew this. I thought they just received a free archer?

Yes, you can look it up in the handicap file, there is a "free tech" section.
