After browsing these forums for some time trying to figure out why my more than adequate PC would grind to a halt when running Civ4, I (in desperation, I might add) updated my nForce driver, and, rejoice, it is running as smooth as I don't know what.
I have an nVidia Northbridge controller and that's the one I have updated the driver for. On my motherboard it's called nVIDIA nForce2 MCP/MCP-T.
- Go to the nVidia downloads page
- Instead of "graphics driver" choose "Platform/nForce Drivers" below
- Choose your nForce version. Your M/B manual should have the details
- Choose OS (duh)
- Download (duh)
- Restart
- Play
- Rejoice
I hope that this can bring someone as much joy as it has me.
Happy gaming, PW
