There is a lot of idiocity with how nuclear warfare is handled in this game. But the most frustrating part, is after doing everything to go down this route in my power, I simply can never get to nuke the cities I want because some unknown spy from god know's where is always sitting in that city, and prevents me from nuking.

O_o

My solution has been to declare war on other nations all one by one until finally I am allowed to nuke the city. And what also sucks is even if you try to nuke a square away from that spy, it STILL won't let you do it.

Rediculous...

Am I missing the obvious here?

hmmz i haven't run into that. i've only ever thrown nukes around when the map is almost empty of civs. the BtS 3.13 patch notes say "Rival spies no longer count as friendly units for nuke attacks" so in theory they think they fixed it, if that's the version you're playing.

yesterday i played against hatty. today ramesses is in my game. both were future start games, and they were the ones that built the manhattan project. neither of them had uranium. they knew that i did, since they'd tried to trade me stuff for it and i'd refused. is that the worst idea ever or what? neither of them got to make any nukes, they just got to suffer from mine! :crazyeye:

And it takes twice as many hammers to build it without any uranium even!

I actually fail to see why you'd build the Manhattan project without Uranium, so the bonus to production seem redundant. Unless you want to unlock Nuclear Shelters to protect you from the nukes you've allowed others to build :crazyeye:

yeah i guess they wanted a head start on SDI. as soon as Ramesses finished MP, i started making nukes of course. at the start of the next turn, he offered me fish for my Sid's Sushi in exchange for uranium. i scoffed and said no.

but i decided to actually do it. i turned off global warming in the middle of this game, since 5 of the 6 cities i captured from willem had nuke plants in them and you can't sell off buildings :gripe:. so i can see what damage he'd inflict but it wouldn't mess up the pretty map too terribly. we're the only 2 civs left, and he's been pleased with me for ages. he's one of the leaders that won't DoW at pleased, so i get to totally control the timing of the nuke festival.

hubby thinks i'm absolutely crazy to consider it. but come on, one side having nukes is like modern armor vs longbows. which is a blast sometimes, but the whole reason i'm doing future starts is to see what modern warfare when we both have every tech is like. so yeah, i'll give him uranium. oh boy. i'll build SDI first.

That can be quite pun.

Ba-dom-chi

I've never really got around to using nukes, maybe it's because we're nucular free in New Zealand. Land of the long white cloud, not the mushroom cloud. :D
