Number of city

My question is the following: which is the maximum number of possible city in the game and if possible to overcome such number through some change of the files?
If someone had to have already answered to this question could you tell me in kindly which gives?

I wasn't aware that there was a maximum number of cities you could have. There is, however, an Optimum City Number, which is the maximum number of cities you can have without suffering from too much corruption and other effects. Building the Forbidden Palace and the Secret Police Headquarters (in C3C) can increase that number, though.

Why would you want more than the maximum number of cities? The game is slow enough as it is.

Well I now explain you, what I intend. I would like to know what the maximum number of city , because if I play the mod tech tree, I cannot build anymore all of a sudden city because the game tells that I have reached the maximum limit of the cities .
Someone knows me to you to tell the way of modifying the game such sense?

The maximum nuber of cities in a game is 512.

what type of error would it display if this number was reached by people on your map? would it say sorry, you cant build more cities or would is spazz out and give strange error?

You get a "Too Many Cities" message.
The maximum number is hard-coded into the game and can't be changed or edited.
