Number of Factions?

Is there any way or parch to increase the number Factions in SMAC or Crossfire? I would like to play with say fifteen.

I think that the maximum number of factions is seven.

I know. I was hoping someone had come up with a way (parch or something) to increase the maximum number. Like they did in Civ III with the 31 Civs scenario.
