Numidian's Byzantine Challenge (peaceful)

Standard world, restless barbs, archipelego 70% water, emperor level.

This is an attempt at winning a diplomatic victory using just one city. I have commited myself to peaceful resolution of all conflicts in the game. Open warfare will be avoided at all costs. In order to win, I must build the United Nations before everybody else and be elected as General Secretary. It will take an enormous amount of fine skills in diplomacy and commerce to do this. In addition, I must plan far ahead and successful predict what the AI will do next.

First, I have selected the Byzantines as my civ. They are both scientific and seafaring. Scientific will give me access to cheap libraries and universities and improve the odds of getting a scientific great leader. Seafaring will give me some extra gpt and reduce the chances of my curraghs sinking. The ultimate goal is the creation of a super science city(collossus, copernicus' obs., newton's uni).

I have moved my first warrior out. This warrior is not just any warrior. He is skilled in the diplomacy of peace and trade.

Nice. It would have been better to have a tech, but that extra warrior will be used to teach peace and love in Byzantium.

Now I have built my first curragh. I have sent the vessel up the coast and he has spotted something.

It is Togugawa of the Japanese. He seems very close to my location. Of vital importance is remaining a good relationship with him. We don't want any wars. I give him alphabet and 35 gold.
