Nvidia 6800 GT Problems!

I'm running a . . .

P4 2.6GHz
1.00GB of RAM
60G Harddrive (with 20G free space)
Nvidia GeForce 6800GT (and I don't want to overclock OR underclock it)

All updated drivers, all updated patches. I'm running my game in LOW settings (which is a crime) and my game constantly crashes to a psychadelic looking/cross hatched screen of death that can only be cured by a hard reboot.

HELP!!!

Your hardware shouldn't be the problem. Those spec's are more than enough to run the game without issue. What OS are you running?

Not to be alarmist, but these types of problems, absent any obvious cause, are often caused by viruses or other malware. How's your anti-virus protection?

I just updated and ran Norton Internet Security 2006 yesterday. My system is clear of bugs (woo hoo!)

I'm running windows xp with all recommended updates installed.

This is what is showing up in my error logs when I log the game.

RESMGR

RESMGR: Texture PlayerColor01.tga failed to load
RESMGR: Texture PlayerColor02.tga failed to load

Any thoughts anyone?!!?

Yep, I got the exact same problem. It's not a virus issue, and it's not a heat issue. I also believe that the log files I sent to Firaxis showed the same error messages. This particular issue must be a 6800 GT thing.

Anyway, this thread may offer some assistance:

Try having a look at this thread, seems fairly similiar to your current problems and it might give a few clues to help.

EDIT: Never mind, already given that link.... need coffee....

Other than that, try turning off all the advanced settings for the video card - Vsync, AA, etc. See if that works out better. The latest nVidia drivers (81.98) have some fixes for the 6800 I believe, install that if you haven't already.

Funny, I have a 6800 GT with the latest drivers and all installed, no issues whatsoever graphically.

And I run it at the highest settings.

That's an OK workaround for the time being, but it still crashes after a while. I'm really hoping they release another patch sometime soon because this problem seems to be starting with my Call of Duty 2 too.

The latest drivers may be fubar. I run (a 6800 GT) using an older version (why update if it's working?)

There is definitely a problem with the 6200. My PC has crashed/restarted several times with WinXP reporting it had recoverd from a serious error and compiled a report for Bill. I thought it migt have been me, but it's happened to others and my PC is top notch performing faultlessly in most other regards.

I do however use the 'Window' key to hide Civ4 (running in full screen mode) when I want to access the desktop and this could be related...

This is definately a game glitch. I have a p4 3.2ghz with 1gb of ram and surprise surprise a geforce fx6200. I too have strange crashes in the later stages of a game, where the world goes black and I only have sound or 'system has recovered etc etc'. I too have all the latest drivers. And I came here hoping to find the answer_____!!! ohh well back to the drawing board at least its not just me!!!!!!!

I too am using a 6600GT.

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
AMD Athlon 64-bit Processor 3200 - 2.50GHz
512 MB of DDR
Xfx Geforce 6600GT 128MB DDR PCI-E Dual DVI TVO graphics card.

What happens with mine is no weird graphics, the game just freezes, now and then it will go to black and I have to perform a hard reboot as the system crashes along with it to.

Also my windows is up to date as I performed all critical updates today.
