From the MacPlay newsletter:
Those of you interested in events that happen outside your tiny
spheres of influence should pick up a copy of Virtual Programming's
real-time strategy game Europa Universalis II when we distribute it
later this month. It covers the years 1419-1820 (the 100 Years War
through Napoleon's Europe-devastating inferiority complex) and it
allows you to choose from more than 180 nations to lead to world
domination. Make friends and enemies, open trade routes, expand your
empire, start wars, and eventually rule the globe. All in 400 years
or less.
A lot of PC strategy folks tell me this one's difficult but excellent.
On another topic - don't believe the reviews, Master of Orion 3 is a really good game - it's just incredibly difficult to get started with. They have the first of two planned patches out and it's cross-platform. The main patch is due next month. Once it's out, I recommend the game strongly.
It's a good time to be a Mac strategy gamer.
