Well, i started a game as Japan, built a warrior, and found a patch of desert 11 squares in size...with 8 of them being oasises!

 How come you get the nice RNG, and I get the one that hates me?

(100th post!!! [party])

Did you mess with the rules? One time I set the luxury frequency to pretty high and got patterns like that.

Nope, this is a random map, using the default rules ( i don't like to mod the epic game) with just Snoopy's terrain graphics instead of the default ones. I too have seen luxuries grouped in large numbers like this, and thats again without and rule changing. The thing about the oasises doing it though is that, IMO, it is very unrealistic, when compared to the real world.

I've had the same thing happen before. Well, I'm not sure if I had the same ratio, but close. I don't know the ratio of Oasis off hand, but it's unlikely that this wouldn't happen to someone.

:wow: That is amazing. I wish my Civ liked me that much...

I too have had some good RNG luck, I once had 7 Ivory within a single city's radius, and there was more elsewhere on the continent!
;)Cha-ching!

I've seen patches of all-Oasis Desert before. Rare, but not impossible, especially on Cold, Wet maps where Desert is rare but Oases just as common.

I've had that happen on larger maps with less desert. It's more compressed. It's actually somewhat common for me.

I had 5 Ivory around my Capital City at the start without moving :crazyeye:  . It was a Gallic Sword & Ancient Cavalry
slaughter for the AIs. :mischief:  . Any other luxuries I wanted
I could take by the hammer!

[rainy day mode]oasis's give 2+ food so its only a patch of unsheilded grassland[/rainy day mode]

of course,if your talking about the luck in that,i would say that i would be annoyed because it wasnt cows or wheat :mischief: not sure why those oasis's would have any more than passing interest...

Actually, I believe it works as a shielded grassland because deserts give a shield to begin with.

yes,you are correct,tomoyo

sounds like someone sees the glass as half empty :mischief:

Right now I'm thinking about agricultural civs. When irrigated, that's 4 foood per turn and 1 shield per turn, quite powerful if there's this many.

A save or seed number would be nice, I want to try this start (looks kind of fun :mischief: .)

I once had 8 furs, the entire world supply in one spot. Sweet trading oppurtunities.

In my latest game, I founded my capital, sent out my scout (actually before founding of course) and when I entered a GH, a new city popped out. With 6 cattle in its radius. SIX! Talking about a nice settler factory... I usually play at deity and some SID and this was emperor, so I kinda abandoned the game (still have a save tho) for it would be a bit to easy ro keep up with the AI expansion rate...
