this way to beat the game (one city challenge) is the quickest and easiest way to win. go here- www.members.home.nl/paulvdb/occ.htm -for the strat guide. you can ally with every nation. youll be rich the whole way through by asking for tribute. yes, even on deity you can ask for tribute the whole game and keep the attitude at enthusiastic. lots o fun. takes only a couple o hours to build spaceship. i havent beaten it on deity yet using this method, but ive gotten close. im equal with techs with the other civs, and i cant build ship before them. its still fun though.

you beat the game with one city

. i have beaten it on diety now. you obviously have to build spaceship. go to link above for more info

Playing occ (deity) on my first try using MGE (with the voeryhostile AI) I drowned under a flood of thirty brit tanks around 1920. On my 2nd try (using civ2) I got to AC a few years before my nearest rival could get there.

I won't say what happened in my first OCC game

The AI didn't need tanks

lol Smash !!!

I am impatient to try this, but isn't it a little boring at the beginning ?
Another question : is it forbidden in such a challenge to take another civ's city if you try straight away to destroy it by selling everything and rush-built settlers ?

I don't know if it is forbidden, but it would seem like an exceptionally stupid thing to do given that the best idea is to stay allied to everyone and since you only have one city an enemy civ will find it a lot easier to retaliate and crush you. Whether for defensive or offensive purposes, it's hard to buid a worthwhile army with support from only one city.

Aye, duke o' york, but think of all the -NON- units that can be gained from hut popping (and then perhaps get lucky with the Leonardo's Workshop Wonder?). You can have quite mini-army!

It is forbidden to ever have more than 1 city. You can destroy cities but not capture or bribe..ever.Advanced tribes should be reloaded and re-entered(save before entering).

The early game is a busy time. There is much to do.You'll want to explore to make contact with all civs ASAP.You want to trade for techs and pop as many huts as you can.

You need to get ready for "we love days" in Republic and grow to size 12 and beyond ASAP.That means building a bunch of stuff before 1AD.

Having read the strategy guide to the OCC. I have one question. The author seems to suggest that it doesn't matter if your city is on a coast or not. But I would have thought it was essential to be a port, otherwise your exploration is going to be severly limited as you won't be able to build ships and get off your continent. If, as often happens, you are the only civ on a small island, then you are not going to have any contact with others during the vital early stage (when they have something worthwhile to trade). A lot of the sample games given have this problem - they are suggesting landlocked cities, which may have lots of specials, but are going to suffer in exploration. Or have I missed something?
