I'm relatively new to the game in terms of total played games so usually most of the thematic religions are founded by people that make sense thematically. The game I'm playing with a friend right now hasn't gone that way though. Its a huge erebuscontinents game with all civs present. I just thought it was funny that the desert dwelling malakim without a single hill inside their borders founded RoK (with the Luchirp just south of them) then to make it better the clan discovered FoL (personally i really hope they somehow get the werewolf hero to make a true "dark" forest empire). OO has been founded as well but i dont know by who and then i as the Shiem have founded the AV so thats normal atleast.

Finally my question is what are the oddest games yall have had in terms of what civ founded what religion. (Oh and also does the AI ever get Baron Duin Halfmorn and is there anyway to make sure they try to?)

Civs that normally go for late religions (Empyrean in the Malakim's case) will often try to found early religions if possible as a stop-gap, so them founding RoK is not unusual, especially if the Khazad are not in the game.

The Clan will just go after whatever's available. They're not tied to any particular religion.

The thing is both dwarves and both elves are in the game so i didn't expect the malakim and clan to beat them to the religions. I know that the game mechanics are set up so stuff like this happens but i still laugh from a lore standpoint.

The Malakim are a very religious nation with a strong economy. It would be strange if they didn't found a religion when they had the chance. They do in fact frequently develop RoK first. The clan also seem incredibly strong in the early game (since patch m) and will take any religion they can get.

No leader rushes for any religions at the moment, an early religion is more or less in the same place in the "teching order" for every civ. The ones that gets the best teching start will come first to religions, what religion is primimarly described in the leaderhead file, if none are described they go alignment-approriate.
