Odds while defending

Hi,

I wonder if the odd are the same regardeless what unit is actually attacking. If not, how can I see what the odds are while defending a town for instance.

Yup, it matters who is attacking/defending. Specialties and promotions can change things. The comp will always choose the best defender in any given situation, so if you're defending, you can be sure that your best has been picked. If you're defending, look at what is sitting on the sqaure you want, and choose attackers wisely. If they have a bunch of defenders with +50% against melee units, don't attack with your melees first - use mounted units. Likewise, if you're going up against a handful of anti-mounted defenders, use melee to get rid of those before tromping in with mounted units.

I assumed this was the case. The reason I ask is, it would be helpful in deciding if I should better attack or wait to defend.

If you want to see the odds, instead of just attacking with the right click, hit the G key and put the cursor over the unit you want to attack. It will show you what the odds are, with everything taken into account.

Yes, I know this part. But you get the values for attacking yourself. I want to know the values for defending.
