It seems certain threads on off topic are disapearing just because they ask questions certain members of this board don't like...

That would never happen here! :)

Don't know exactly what the sitution is, but if the thread was against the forum rules then it might have been deleted or moved to the secret "evidence" forum.

wow, that was annoying. I was reading a thread and it got deleted mid-reading. I never got past page 1...

Is there a stated policy on thread deletion when a topic isn't just spam? Maybe that thread (is us gov terroist) got really out of hand after page 1 but why would it be deleted instead of locked? It was controversial sure, but it was argued, and to me at least it wasn't a troll or spam.

If it was more than a page long.... I doubt it was deleted... Like I said above... It was prolly moved to the secret "evidence" forum that only TF and the moderators can access.

Also.... By just looking at the name it seems like to me it was US bashing.... and nationality bashing is against the forum rules.

If a thread starts to turn into a flame war, trolling or whatnot, it will be deleted. It's to keep things in order in that forum.

ah damnit, hey chieftess, could u sneak me into the evidence forum? i wanna read what i missed in the US government are terrorist thread :D

It wasn't bashing anyon'e nationility, it was asking a question about the government. There are constant threads which question other governments, it just seems that this particular one is deemed above the rest.

And it's not as if the thread had become a flame war or anything nasty, it was pretty civilised!!

But why aren't the members allowed to just read those moved threads? Why isn't the Secret Evidence forum open for everyone to read?
Not to reply, but just to read?
Are you afraid that the members on this forum can't think for themselves and get 'bad (read: anti-American) influence' by those flaming threads??

I realise the truncated title I gave "is US gov terroist" may sound like the thread was just nationality bashing, but from what I recall of the first page it was all civilised discussion. There was exactly zero flaming in it either. As I only saw page 1 of several pages I don't know if it went downhill, but I am kind of surprised topics would be removed (=deleted to the general population even if they do exist in an evidence locker) unless they contained hardcore porn or somesuch.
The only reason I can think of to remove 'political' threads is when they are in fact just 'hate' threads (think neo-nazi), but I don't think that was the case here.

Unless the topic in itself is judged to be forbidden?

Is there a thread somewhere I've missed stating the policy on removing threads? Or is it just the application of the forum rules?

If such threads are repeated, POSTERS will start disapearing.

Take your stupid "bash the USA" nonsense elsewhere, next time mass bannings will follow.

My post was ill thought out and I apologize.

It wasn't bashing the US, it was asking questions about it's government, just like alot of other threads ask questions about other governments.

Thank-you so kindly for taking the time to give me a polite and courteous answer to my questions regarding the rules and/or policy on thread deletion. I shall try and better myself by emulating your unique style of posting in the future.

Let me give you a little more advice, "Dr".

Being a wise-ass with me will get you banned, and I will think nothing of it.

You don't like it, there are PLENTY of other sites to post at.

Next time, watch you titles.
You know the rules Davo.
That kind of title is going to get zipped EVERYTIME.

Why didn't you just change the title of the thread then?

Object lesson, as in don't annoy people for no reason.

Why do people cry when there thread is deleated??

I will never understand why people pay so much value to what the post on the internet, like a deleted post is stealing a part of their soul. It ranks right up there with people that actually care about what other people on the internet think. People like that are the reason sites become so damn uptight.
