Greetings all!

Ah, I can't even begin to express how happy I am to see fellow fans -- devotees, even! -- of CivDOS. The original. The best. And, for me, the lost.

I had the 3 1/2" floppy. A few years ago, it got misplaced as I travelled about. I haven't played this King of Games in maybe six or seven years now. And although I can't say "not a day goes by when I don't think about it and miss it," I do think about it probably once a month at least. Oh, it is really such a perfect game!

I played Civ II for a bit, and it isn't TERRIBLE, but there's no comparison. In an attempt to make things -- I dunno, "cooler"? more "up-to-date"? The essential beauty of CivDOS was, in my opinion, lost. The graphics of CivDOS are...I don't even have the words to describe the cool blue glow and the soft crispness of it. Units -- bright squares winking and blinking; and the cities! Fat bubbles, they look like gleaming buttons waiting to be inspected...

I don't even mind the sometimes infuriating battleship losses to phalanxes, or the ridiculous unloading of an enemy transport all over my irrigated and mined squared. Well, I mind it, but because it's comical and crazy.

So now I'm living vicariously through all of you, my dear fellow-appreciators of the happiest game ever. I have a friend who's savvy; he is currently looking into a way for me to reclaim this perfect prize. In the meantime, I look forward to reading more stories and lessons from all of you!
