Hello :)

Anyways, I'm an old CIV 3 player that has returned to this game after long time. I have Civilization 3 : Complete edition and I have some questions, so if you woud be kind and please answer them :

1. As I mentioned, I have Civilization 3 : Complete. When I install it does it : covers both Play the world and Conquest expansions ?( I mean, do i get with that installation all new things from Play the world and from Conquest) and is it all patched to newest version or do I need to download newest patch?

2. When I get to a longer game, then I have a lots of units and when it's my turn, every unit wants command. That means *lots* of units, and let's say I only want to move 3 units in this particular move, and I don't want to move other? Is there any "end your turn button", because it's annoying that game cycles from unit to unit and I need to press space button 200 times just to end my turn?

That woud be it, thanks.

Welcome back!

Yes and yes. When you start Complete, you're pretty much starting Conquests. And since Complete came out after the last Conquests patch, it comes fully patched.

2. When I get to a longer game, then I have a lots of units and when it's my turn, every unit wants command. It would probably be best to Fortify the units you're not playing to move this turn. This puts them into a defensive mode, and they get a 25% defensive bonus. They also will not ask for move orders for that turn. Then you don't have to worry about telling them not to move each turn. And there actually is a 'end your turn' button. On the lower right part of the screen, in the info box's upper left corner, is an oval button. hit that, and it will end your turn.

Hi Turner, thx for replay :)

1. I remember that "oval button" but isn't that just like "space button" ? Correct me if I'm wrong, I will install CIV 3 probably tommorow to check it.

2. About Conquest expansion. You are saying Conquest is = All new things that came with "Play the world" + new things from Conquest expansion? Dosen't that mean that people who buyed Play the world are som sort of ... robbed? Because they didn't have to buy it, cause they coud buy Conqest and get Conqest and Play the world for same price?

Thanks again ;)

No, the oval button ends the turn. It's not like hitting the space button where it skips a unit. If/when you hit that button, any automated moves (units moving or worker actions) are done and then your turn is over. A lot easier than hitting the space bar 200 times.

Some people do feel that they were ripped off with Conquests, which included (even installed the game, if you just have Vanilla) all the content from PTW. I was not one of those. I had a lot of fun with PTW and was quite happy to fork over $10 for conquests. (On sale at amazon shortly after it came out.) But it was a year or so between releases, and I felt I got my moneys worth, so I wasn't upset about it.

Those that bought PTW day 1 or soon after got there monies worth. If you waited till 3 months before C3C came, you should have wait longer as we knew Conquest was coming.

That is par for all games. You get an addon and then a gold and then a complete. You decide when to buy.

As to skipping over units, it is a pain, IF you want to move them this turn, but not now. If you do not want move them, consider forting them as Turner said. You have to be careful about forgetting them.

To that end I often move all of those units to a central place. Then when I need one, I look there.

I do this too, once I get Rails. I'll start stacking like units up around my capital, with maybe one unit in each stack needing to be space-barred (?) so that I don't forget about them.

Workers will still be busy, make forests flat and wet grounds dry, then adding roads and rails. Adding roads to hills and mountains too, just for the new resource that might pop up anywhere.

The other thing I will use is to keep elites in one spot near the front (after rails) and unneeded armies close by as well. These can be fortified as I know to look around a town or location close to the action.

Prior to rails it is not so easy to manage, but then I probably do not have a lot of units twiddling their thumbs at that stage.

I would also recommend the use of the Sentry position in places where the AI may show up. With Sentry [y] your units wake up and respond to the advances. :scan:

I've been surprised a couple of times even though I watch all AI moves closely and Sentry has saved my bacon

Yeah, I agree they are sneaky sometimes, and it's really annoying when they just sneak around your back, without you knowing it and settle behind your lines and fortify there. Many of Civ's in this game are sneaky in diplomatic issues too, like they don't obey agreements and etc.

I love this game :D

You can go to game preferences and uncheck the cycle units option, you can also have the always en of turn button off/on, as many other things.

There is also the possibility of making the gameplay faster by playing with the config.ini file in your C3C directory.
