Hey there, just wondering what are yours guys's favorite civilization. I know that this thread has been around since the beginnings of CIV 3, but just for something about, my fav civ is Germany. I have no idea why I like them because there attributes are crap. :goodjob:

I usually use France, for their attributes, despite that fact that, in my opinion, their UU is one of the most usless in the game.

Try the Carthaginians in PTW if you have it. They have the same attributes and their UU IMO is the best of the game (MUCH better than the French UU). You become unbeatable if you play as them in the ancient era.

I dont really have a favourite civilisation anymore. I enjoy playing as any civ :)

If the question is, Who do i do best as?, its probably the Americans.

I usually kick in a lot of teeth with the Ottomans or Persians. Start off with the Pyramids to fuel an ICS, which later buries the world/neighbors in massive quantities of Sipahi/Immortals.

Just finished a game with Germany. Might try to use the americans next time. The only problem with the carthagenthians (sp?) is that there color is horrible! Thats the worst shade of brown I've ever seen! :crazyeye:

At the moment I'm going through them all playing diety till I get beat, or win, and at the moment I like the chienese (no. 4 I think...), cos I'm winning with them :)

hmm.. depends on what civ i feeling playing really.

I usually play with random civs, but right now my favorite has to go to Spain. They're the only civ I managed to beat deity with, so I have to go with them.

I like playing as the Carthaginians - I prefer to make an early strive for land and knock out a couple of neighbours, then build from there.

Besides - have you seen the navy it builds up when you play AGAINST Carthage? :cooool:

i used to play as the americans but ive switched over to the russians and germans

I am new to Civ 3. I have only had it a few weeks. So far, I have done best with the French. I am winning a monarch game with France right now. Japan is my main enemy and I just got rail roads. Who says musket men are bad? Without them, I would not be able to repulse any samurai attacks.

As it is, I think industrious civs may be too powerful.

My favorite civs fron civ 2 were England, Rome, China, Russia and Vikings on the world map.

My favorite is probably Japan or Persia. Both have great UU's. Both have great trait combos - religious and either militaristic or scientific.

Least favorite is England. Crappy UU and crappy traits.

Persia's my favourite, great traits & wicked UU. America & England (both big powers at times IRL) both suck badly IMHO. But really all have good points, its just that some civ's good points are so much better than others

The egyptians are my favorite, industrious and religious are good for growing like hell. Although Ottomans and Persians are nice too, but it depends a bit on my mood though.

I'm currently playing the Ottomons, and since I just conquered another civ with my Sipahi (Germany, ten cities, 20 Sipahi, 4 turns, 2 casualties, myself in Republic) so, I think I like them quite a bit! Although, I liked Japan when I played them, and Carthage is great early on ( won with them also- conquered the entire continent) but I played the Americans before them, and liked them. (won there also. Yay) I guess I like civs with industrial and commercial, but I'll play any, I guess.

btw, in my stats for how I conquered Germany, it goes : enemy civ, their cities, my units and numbers of them, turnes till peace (here, conquest) casualties of my units, and my government.

Aztecs are my fave. Mostly because I like the history to start with, but secondarily, I know that I will not have trouble with neighbours in the early part of the game. I can start anywhere and dominate all the nearby areas quickly.

Plus the traits arent as bad as you might think - they are really great for being aggressive. You can set up your temples and barracks quickly in captured cities, which is very important when expanding.
