Hey all. Im devoting this thread to a discussion on fortresses in the hope that some questions may be answered for me and others.

My first question is this:

Is there any way, by either altering game files or downloading mods and other files, that I can increase the amount of aircraft I can hold in forts?

I would like to use the unoccupied forest on the island south east of Bursas' cultural influence as an airbase. I do not want to settle the area and I find having to carry a large air force over to foreign territory in carriers quite annoying. I would use a fortress, but as they can only hold four aircraft (and I like to have atleast four fighters to intercept enemy aircraft) this is no good.
Can anyone help?

Cheers, Michael

You can't use a fort in neutral territory as an airbase, you need it to be in your culture. I would suggest settling a city in a dead zone, like in the ice or wherever AI's haven't settled. Place forts around it for a huge aircraft capacity also allowing bombers to support your army and also if you rushbuy an airport a handy reinforcement point.
Also all this can be done before you even declare war!
This tactic will likely be even more powerful as a Creative leader like Willem

I put a fighter and 3 bombers, and maybe a SAM, but most of my SAMs travel with my army to defend them.

Depending how many air units i have....

two fighters or three fighters, up to six bombers.

One/two fighter patrols, the other flies out to kill defending aircraft/clear the way for your bombers.
