One tile city islands

What would be a good strategy for razing a one tile city island?

I'm trying to kick Chairman Mao off the planet and he settled an island off the coast of another continent that is only one tile in size. I can't level the city, it has one troop in it, a spearman. Bombing or airstrikes will only take it to 50%, naval bombardment will only level the city defences.

Why not just capture it then raze it? Use a Marine or some other unit with the Amphibious promotion.

Attack it with normal units, especially Marines. You get a reduction to strength if you aren't using something amphibious...

Can I land on the island, even though the city is on the only valid tile?

Use collateral damage units first. I only had to do this twice before, in one game thou. Both enemies escaped to one tiles Luckly they were really poor only had 2 units defending. So they had longbowmen I used rifleman which where upgraded city raider macemen. Had no problem :/
