Is there a knowledgeable person out there who knows if it will be possible to play an OCC game in Civ4 as its possible in Civ2?

If not why?

Just wonderin' :)

It was possible in Civ3... why not in civ4? So probably yes.

I doubt you are going to have someone tell you conclusively one way or another b/c ... no of us have played civ4 yet! Any playtesters who might know are under NDAs.

I guess yes. I don't think that this will cause some major problems with game mechanics.
Knowledgeable person is there, but never going to tell us...

From what I've heard, this will be significantly more difficult in CIV4. It's a design issue: in CIV4 you'll need 3 cities for a cultural win. So yes you could play OCC, but not by culture which is currently the majority of OCC games.

Then it appears we will be seeing more talk about TCC in the future, won't we?

Forgive my ignorence... but a TCC is that a *TWO* City Chalenge?

See, I dont know Civ3 well. I have it and I have *started* one or two games but abandoned it in favor of my favorit: Civ-2.

Though I have played FCC:s (*FEW* City Chalenges) but THAT is not exactly a chalenge, at least not in Civ 2. :)

"Forgive my ignorence... but a TCC is that a *TWO* City Chalenge?"

Negative, I think TCC was meant to refer to three city challenge. In civ4, you need three cities to be elligible for a cultural win. Since cultural wins are allegedly the easist way to win a OCC in civ3, TCC will have to replace OCC in civ4... :p

Why couldn't they just make a mod that changes the rules to allow one city to win by culture, but give it a higher target?

If Firaxis doesn't, somebody else probably will. I think it would be better if they do it themselves, though. It can't require that much work! And it's such a cool way to play.

I think in Civ4 it might be possible to do 0CCs. No city at all, just the starting settler running around, hoping to win by getting into a permanent alliance with someone strong. That could get very boring very quickly of course, but would give new meaning to "winning by diplomacy".
