only 1 defense combat per unit per turn?

I've noticed that if I have a stack of aegis cruiser, let's say two, and I'm being attack by two planes, the planes will get shot down. but if more planes
attack they all will get through and do damage to the ships.

only 1 defense combat per unit per turn?

Has anyone else noticed this and can this be changed?

I want my aegis cruiser to be able to defend itself against overwhelming numbers of planes...
