Do you check this option? Why would I not check it? Is there a benefit to having your stack all attack at once vrs one each time? I find that this option saves time.

What do you play with and why?

Thanks

I've never bothered trying that option out yet. I'd rather attack with each unit serperately because during the course of the battle certain results may warrant me wanting to use different units in different orders. If I have a unit close to reaching the next experience level I will use him first if I know he can definately win.

I used if my first few games, but I stopped because stack attack is an all-or-nothing attack. You can't decide part way through to retreat. Your units either win, or die. I like keeping things flexible.

Stack attack lets the AI decide which unit will attack when, which I don't like. Gets me better results in the long term. Besides, I know that I always have the odds against me no matter what the numbers say and take that into account.

Yeah I've noticed some bad decisions the AI makes when I go to attack with grouped units. Let's say you have 3 tanks and a catapult grouped together. The city you're attacking has an archer and a spearman in it with a 40% culture bonus. The AI would send the catapult in first and sacrifice it when you could have easily just attacked with 2 tanks and won without losing any units.
