Am I the only one who thinks that an Axeman creating 1 :) in a Modern Era city is absolutely absurd? I think it'd be better if: a Warrior is being stationed in a Industrial-era city, loses its ability to please the inhabitants or even create .

I could see why it creates happiness. I mean, everyone would just be sitting there laughing at the fact that there's a warrior with a club roaming a city in the modern eras, no?

On the the contrary. The modern citizenry would take one look at those animal skins he's wearing, and it would become a new fashion trend.

If anything, it should cause more:)

...and who in their right mind would start a riot if the military police turned up in a clubs-and-loincloth outfit?

Riot control. So easy, even a caveman can do it!

The modern world is replete with old regiments in traditional costume and character which not only tend to bring a sense of national pride but also a monetary bonus in the form of gawping tourists. Perhaps we should try for a mod which adds +1 trade route to cities with obsolete units to simulate this. :crazyeye:

Why not a national wonder, The Changing of the Guards, that requires an obsolete soldier to survive into the modern era?

yeah, I think the :culture: defense generated by the national pride would make it VERY strong

I would think that a warrior or axeman with several thousand years' worth of experience doing military work would be pretty darn good at it, outdated weaponry or not.

Actually from a realistic point of view, you simply do not see armed groups standing around with melee weapons. If soldiers aren't equipped properly by their own gov, they will take it apon themselves to aquire guns...

That said, in terms of gameplay, the current system works fine.

Well, I suppose the real question is: what business does a modern civ have running Monarchy so late in the game?

I like to think of it as a few propaganda boosted modern soldiers. Their few numbers make their power = a clubman. That's where your 1 :gold: is going.
