Out of Commission.

While I was at work today, my mother and sister left the house. They unplugged EVERYTHING EXCEPT my computer and modem (Just incase of a lightening strike). Well guess what!!!!!

Yeah.....my modem is fried.

ALL BECAUSE MY STUPID SISTER WAS TOO LAZY TO RUN BACK IN THE HOUSE AND UNPLUG MY MODEM!!!!

****ING *****!

So.....I'm on a friends computer now. After supper I'm going out to get a new modem. Naturally I'm really angry. I've tried reseating it, reinstalling drivers, different phone cords. Nothing.

Anyway......I'm really upset because that's 3 modems since last June. And one surge protector got fried saving my current modem. So tonight I'll be playing Doom OFFLINE, ****ing running around with my fists punching those ******* Imp's to gibblets......Ahhhh.....some strees relief.

Anyway.....later for now.

~~~~~~Update~~~~~~~

Well I went and bought a new modem.

USR 56k Winmodem. My first connection was at 19.2kbps

My crappy Zoom modem did 24kbps!!!!!!!!!!!!

But even though it connected slow it's moving pretty fast....and it was $10 cheaper.

Anyway......Maybe I'll play Civ instead.

You're really unlucky. Or the electricity companies in the US aren't good. In France the wires are really well protected and even thunder rarely damages the electrical stuffs. On this point, I must admit that the French electricity company (EDF-GDF) is really good.

And, uh, may I suggest you to buy a iMac? There's only 2 plugs to unplug for lazy women

. 1st is electrical plug, the 2nd one is the modem RJ11 plug. Yeah, that's great an imac. Even suitable for blondes

Well.....I have a UPS with a built in surge protector. But nothing for the phone line. I already busted two of those!!!!

We have power surges here almost daily durning rainy season. A thunderstorm almost EVERYDAY!!! Power cuts on and off all the time. That's why I bought the UPS.

But my new modem can't get past 19.6 kbps!!!! And keeps disconnecting from games!! That's REALLY bothering me. I wonder why people live here and put up with it? We have also lost a Microwave to a power surge!!!

When I was in Newfoundland we might have lost power once a year.....MAYBE!!! Anyway....I'm going to try updated drivers for my modem and see if I can make it go faster.

perhaps there was damage to some other component of you machine attached to the modem.

We have also lost a Microwave to a power surge!!!

Have your parent check with an electrician about upgrading the lightning diverter and ground for the house and about installing surge protection at the electrical and phone entries. You get even more lightning there in Florida than I get here.

Oh, and vote all the Democ-rats out of office, they always screw up everything, including you phone and power.

Colorado has more lightning strikes than any other state in the U.S. except for one; that's why I have two surge protectors guarding my computer.
