Does anyone have same prob? How do u fix it?

This might help:
It sounds like a refresh problem.

Try adding the line Refresh=xx where xx is your monitors refresh rate to your civilizationiii.ini. To find the refresh rate, right click on the desktop and select Properties. Click on the Settings Tab, and then click on Advanced. Then find the Monitor tab on the new window. It should give you a list of your refresh rates in a drop down box.

In your Civ3 directory.

Which version are you playing? Regular, PTW, or Conquests? Gold or Complete?

well first i wanna at least get civ 3 workin then conquests+play the world

But do you have those versions as well? Because if you do, might as well jump into Conquests.

but i still cant get it working on the other. the same problem comes up

odorf - you need to find the directory your CivilizationIII.exe file is in, or whatever it's called in your version.

Go to start, programs, and navigate to the Civ3 icon that you use to launch the game. When you get to it, right click on it and select properties. When the box pops up, click on 'find target'. This will take you to that directory that the executable is in.

When you get there, look for a .ini file. It should be civilizationiii.ini. There should be only one .ini file in that directory, so if one's there, chances are that's the one we're looking for. If it's not there, we can create it.

So, if you have the file, double click on it to edit it. This should bring up the file in notepad. Simply scroll down to the end of the file, and add in the line Refresh=XX, where XX is the refresh rate you want. I explained in post 2 how to find your refresh rate. Then exit the file, saving changes.

Now, if the file doesn't exist, don't worry. We'll create it. Start Notepad. Put the line in Refresh=XX, with of course XX being the refresh rate you want. You then want to save it to your Civ3 directory. You'll probably have to navigate to that directory first. Then save it as civilizationiii.ini. There doesn't need to be anything else in the file....what the program is missing it will enter into the file from default values.

Try that, let us know how it worked out.
