Is it just me or is it EXTREMELY annoying when the AI has such a need to expand that it occupies every last millimeter of land in the world? What I mean is, when they send a settler to the other side of the world and infiltrate your territory just to build a city that will never get bigger then 1! WTH!
There should be some kind of fix to this, where they have the AI only expand so far or something, and not send out 'tundra-builders' as me and my friend call them. (because they always tend to build out in empty tundra)
Thoughts? Comments? Anyone else bugged by a AI who expands just way too much?

Very, very annoying  . I've heard other players call it "settler
diarrea" .

Yeah, I hate it when the AI uses good strategy. Oh, wait! No, I don't. I like it when the AI does something relatively intelligent, like settling all the land.

A size one town is worth approximately 3-5 gpt for a LONG time. I would build cities all over if the owners were too slow to settle their area. Why not?

,

Of course the other thing is that the AI knows where future resources are, so sometimes those tundra cities can be even more valuable when oil pops up later on.

well it should be annoying when AI tries to settle everywhere it can.. but for the other reason...
Don't you think AI finds it annoying when you as a human player control 50% and more of all land mass???
If any restriction is set on how much AI can expand it will defeat the whole purpose of civilization game...
AI should try to expand as much as it can and so human player should...
there must not be any restrictions what so ever..
I am strongly disagree

Every new city gives your empire something. At the very least it givese you 4gpt, two for a taxman, one for the uncorrupted gold, and one for wealth. It probably will have oil though.

I believe the Ai has a maximum of cities that it will build. It was made because else the AI would get too much corruption I think. The number is just high. When they reach this number they will mot build any more cities allthough they will still of course capture some.

It's probably set that way not because of predefined numbers but because there is some intellegence built in in AI and it recognizes the optimal number of cities and level of corruption...
well.. at least that what would logic suggest...
I saw when in later stages of game AI won't capture cities but rather raze them again and again...
