Overcrowding Problem

What do you do if you accidentally let one of your cities become unhappy? Slavery production seems like an obvious choice, but then you skew the happiness/unhappiness equation for 10 turns. What if your current civics don't allow slavery? Do you starve the city? Do you have to reload from a saved game?

If you're lucky, having more than one AI can mean bonuses also...

If you only have one AI against you, then you'll be stuck earning your own econ... With an AI in good diplo, you'll have access to foriegn trade resources and extra income from routes...

I play with 18 civs now on standard maps so I'll see some wars... This game without a bit of war is a bit too tame for me...

I have never, and probably will never, use slavery to correct the problem. If I'm not paying attention and this happens I hit the avoid growth button to prevent the problem from getting worse and then expedite getting at least one more + :) in there - be that another religion, a building, trade for a new luxury resource etc. Sometimes I can correct the problem on the very same turn it crops up.

Slavery... Kill the unhappy...

Haha! I do this exactly... oh, you're complaining huh? *POOF* Military unit... Unless I can control it, then no problem...

Turn one or two citizens into priests. Then build a structure that adds happiness. Slavery and starvation are drastic measures!

The AI should match the skill level you choose.

In the drop down box next to your name select "Warlord" or whatever you like. That should put every civ at your level.

At least I assume so because that's what I have been doing.

Ok thanks I see, I guess what was throwing me a bit was that by default it has the player on "Noble" difficulty, and as "Settler" is the easiest I would have thought that it should have that instead, oh well nevermind I'll give that a go, many thanks Critt3r : )

Yes I see what you mean KAuss, and I guess I am really making it too hard on myself by playing against only one AI, as with the options of having other AI's would open up all those different possibilities, time to rethink my approach to games : )

My latest game I am on I chose the Greek World Scenario and was fortunate to be able to build my first City on a tile with Horses on it, so a big bonus I guess from the start as chariots became immediately available, although I expect the other Civ's will be throwing far more advanced units at them lol

UM ;)
