Override default Leader's Name?

Guys,

Every time I start a game I get assigned a leader's name that seems pretty obviously taken from the username for that specific account.

I absolutely don't like that approach as my account name isn't the name I want for that. I'd like to set a different default. Short of creating another account just for the sake of this game, is there a way to override that name so that I don't have to change it every single game?

go into the ini file find something that says Username and whatever you type in will become the default

Where is this INI file and will I need to do it for both the core game and for Warlords in two different INI's?

Default directory is in My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CivilizationIV.ini

I don't have Warlords, but I'd imagine it's either the same file, or in the next directory over.

Is there any way the player can keep the default civ ruler's name? ie in my current game I'm playing as Catherine (random selection), is there a way to put it in as 'Catherine' rather than my username? I don't think there is but thought I may as well ask since this thread's here...

In the game set up menu. The page where you choose the leaders. It will show your default name. You can click or rc (can't remember which) and you can choose a different name. This will only work on a game by game basis. You would have to edit an XML file to permanantly change it.

I don't see how you can do this with random leaders but you could pick a leader then change your default name to that leader's.

Click fast on the launch button before your nickname shows up.
You'll get the leader's name you'll be playing instead of your nickname.

In Civilization.ini I found this:

; Account Username
Nickname = 0

; Email Address
Email = clint

; DirectIP Host Address
DirectIP = 0

; In-game Alias
Alias = clint

I changed the Alias = clint, which is my user account to Welnic, and then when I go to start a game it is set to Welnic.

But I don't feel that that does me much good. I don't need hundreds of saved games that all say Welnic. So when I play a random leader the first thing I do is bring up the menu menu, either with Esc or the little icon in the upper right corner next to the civilopedia icon. Then I select Your Details, and in there you can change your leader name. I use a nickname so that later I know who I was playing as and that it was a random leader.

You can change the leader name after you start? This seems like the easiest way - I'll give it a go next time I run the game. Thanks.

You can change the name after you start by pressing Alt-D
