Why is it so? I mean when I play FFH2 with 14 civs on a huge map with large landmass in a lategame, when map is filled with cities and lots of units, turns still takes considerably less time than in planetfall with 7 factions, each having 4-5 bases and a handfull of units. WB doesn't show too many NL's either so WTH is going on?

What map size do you play? For Planetfall Standard is recommended and also sufficient gameplay wise. Probably it would be best to load up a save, so that others can see if it runs that slow for them as well.

Including the Better AI mod increased the time in between turns significantly. I guess that's the price to pay for a better AI. Still, perhaps you could start a thread in the Better AI forum and ask jdog5000 if he has ever checked (possible way here) if there is anything particular which takes so much extra time.

Another problem is that the AI easily gets confused in mods changing basic game rules - Sephi wrote something about that here. I remember that the turn time went up when the AI "learned" going to war again in v9/early v10 and in v11 when the turn time went up again when Better AI was included.

I guess the AI may be hung up about the more fundamental changes (like water travelling etc.). Sadly, I have no idea about the exact workings of the AI, so I wouldn't know where to start with these issues.

Cheers, LT.

I play on huge maps (but so I do on FFH as well). It's always nice to have a better AI, but at some point the price may get a little too high IMHO. Although if it's really about broken functions then it sounds like something that can be fixed eventually.
