Is there, or is there not, a patch for Conquests? I am currently playing version 1.00. I have read about patches in various older threads and tried to find it but have had limited success. On civ3.com there is a description of a 1.22 patch but the link, to firaxis.com, is dead. I found a 1.22 patch, at versiontracker I think, and installed it only to find I was unable to open my version 1.00 games. I could start a new game, save, and open it. But for now I'm back to version 1.00. So what's the scoop. Is there a reliable patch? Where to find it? Is it worthwhile?

1.22 is the newest patch. It is not compatible with games from 1.00 and either version is unable to open saves from the other. 1.22 is the best we got, and it doesn't seem like there will be any more patches at all. You should however finish any games in 1.00 before upgrading to 1.22

But, 1.22 is really worth it. 1.00 contains two really nasty bugs (FP not working, and the gpt bug).
Oh, and you should apply the 'Barb Fix' as well.

Thanks, I've downloaded the patch from civfanatics site and will install after my current game. I just built the FP in that game and didn't notice a negative effect, but I could see where that would be a deadly bug. Maybe I still have an earlier save I can compare to double check.

The FP works for that city itself-but overall corruption isn't helped at all. In fact, you core cities will get worse, and some around the FP will get better, so the effect is about +/- nothing.
For the higher levels, the Gold-per-Turn bug is even worse; while it is nice to get 10% from the Wall Street, the fact anyone revieving gpt gets a double payment results in the runnaway AIs owning hundreds of thousands of gp.
