Patch problem

Hi, i was trying to Patch my BTS to 3.19 (from 3.0), but a message told me that Civ isn't installed correctly and i should try installing BTS again.

As a matter of fact i can't do this- i am traveling around at the moment (and for the next few months...) and installed it on my EeePC (which hasn't even got an CD Drive) using my HomePC CD Drive over Network. My CIV4 CD is therefore around 18.000 Kilometers away from me right now =) So no change of re-installing.

Is there anything I could try to make it work nether the less?

welcome to CFC!

Try patching to 3.17 (download it fresh from here) before you patch to 3.19. That sometimes helps when there are problems. If you have Vista or W7, right click on the patch when you have downloaded it and choose run as administrator to run it.

I tried that today and have the same message...

Would it maby help patching civ 4 before i patch bts?

Civ 4 will already be fully patched as that is done when you install BTS.

I tryed it nether the less (before i read this =) ) and it told me that i havn't installed civ 4...

FUnny thing is, i have ^^ and got the correct folders in My Games and so on... it works fine and all- but i havn't got a reg entry for it. Oh well, seames i'll just have to give up playing mods then

Or does somebody know a way to "manually" ad it to the reg / installing the game again without a CD Drive?

...well...you could do exactly that...add the registry keys manually to the registry, but that's error prone and could even corrupt your windows installation, so it's probably not a good idea on a machine without a CD drive.

Well... i don't think i want to risk my whole windows for the sake of a game...

Is there a possibility to buy (!) and download Civ 4 and BTS online? When yes, has somebody got a link to a (if possible) german game download page? I google it a bit, but i only found an english civ4 for download (that would be okay, but not my first choice) =)

Civ4 and the addons are available at the online retailers like Steam or Direct2Drive, that's not a problem. The european versions are normally also multilingual, so no problem there.

But 3 things to add:
- Uninstall Civ4 before, because the registry keys can conflict with each other
- You also have to buy Warlords, because else parts of the interface will be missing
- Online version require the patches from the retailers, due to the different registry key.
