I think I'm doing a decent job with the terrain PCXs so far. I need the use of a tool that surely gimp has it, but I dont know what its called. I cant find what I'm looking for online if I dont know what its called.

This tool is used to cover up random tiny color holes by copying a sample from the selected terrain, then it attempts to mimic that pattern while brushing, so that it looks natural.

My coast looks a little broken because I left the colors from grasslands out since I'm not using grasslands. This created dirt holes and I wish to patch them in a natural looking way to resemble the coast.

Does anyone know if gimp has this tool? I need a name please, so I could finally find the tutorials I'm looking for.

I can't do anything about this coast for the moment. I'll see if I can figure out tomorrow.

Go to the toolbar of the program and select "Clone Stamp" tool, left-click on the image and while holding the "Ctrl" button on the keyboard to capture the texture of the image. Move the "Clone Stamp" tool on the editing area and change image texture.

I don't use gimp but you can type in "gimp clone tool" in google and get information.

any graphic - such as a selection from the terrain - can be turned into a custom brush. The brush can also be "animated" so that it flips and so on while being used. Works well for painting grass as an example. Check the GIMP user forums for more info.

The borders file uses a completely different palette & has its own set of pitfalls. But Pounder (who afaik has done far more posted borders work than anyone else) has explained a lot about how that works in various posts. Don't recall if there's a specific thread, but search those posts out!
