PBEM or Real time

Heres the situation: Three groups of people want to set up a multiplayer version of the Democracy game (Theres a forum on this site where you can find out about demo games). Two groups are a t GC and the other group is at Poly. Now since there will be three human civs, we need to be able play multiplayer but how. The two options are PBEM or Real Time.

Some Background:
There are between 10 -20 people on each team.
We are already playing a multiplayer Demo game at Gamecatcher and its working fine in Real Time.

So could you vote please as we need more input to decide with option is best.

Real time everybpdy. Bel;ieve me, its far better it adds a factor of realism to the game, and leaves too many openings for cheaters like <shudder> Pellaken

I don't see how you could do it real time.It hardly seems worth all the effort to do maybe 2 turns if you are lucky.Not to mention getting everybody online at once so they can vote and what not.

Real time is much much better for inpatient guys (like me: I couldn't wait for three/four days before something new happening). But as most of the players are located in the US it will be very difficult for me to find partner (ok I'm a civfanatic but getting up at 3 o'clock in the morning for civ is too much even for me ) therefore I'm in some PBEM. But if the players are in the same timezone real time is best.

Oh for sure MP is the best way to play civ2 but this would be for a Democracy game.Every move the civ will make is put to a vote-majority rules.I just can't see it happening.I could be wrong.Its certainly an ambitious idea.So much will depend on the players.But just playing a normal MP game with any more than 2 is a game that almost never gets continued or finished.Experience tells me " no".

Of course the game can try real time and THEN move to PBEM if it was a bust.Nothing to lose I spose.Much to gain.

Since its at CFC, anyone can vote about this situation. If people from Poly or GC wanted to visit then they coulod post their opinions.

You people are CRAZY. CRAZY, CRAZY CRAZY!!!!!!!!! Real time is how it must be played. I can stay up for in Canada, Corns is on the east coast of Canada, Dell is in England, and Ohwell is in Germany. We all manage to get together. Besides, you can have more than one player. And its not every descision that is voted on. Just general strategies.
