Posts in the demogame RPG forum will no longer count towards postcounts.

Well, I can fully agree with this decision, but I can't see on what base this decision was taken. Are ppl complaining because their PC pales in comparison of that of Shaitan?

Or

Is the RPG considered spammy altogether?

Actually, I don't care why this has happened (I missed the discussion leading to this decision altogether, besides the neverending 'the rpg is spam' complaints from certain users (not nice to call names)) but I'd like someone to explain why this doesn't expand to the Off Topic thread.

It's TF's site and it's his decision; not for us peons to question it. :crazyeye: I'd assume there's a discussion on this in the hidden staff forum, before TF made his decision though. ;)

Apparently even ppl fr the main portion of the demogame are complaining it's too spammy and agreed by some others.

Well then, why was it started in the first place?
Why segregate one forum from the other? I think that any reason you could bring up for it goes for about any non-civ (this being the cfc and all...) forum here.

Spam is in the eye of the beholder. While virtually all the posts in the RPG are "On-Topic", there is a plethora of them that read like:
"I'll have a beer, barkeep", or "I'd like to buy a longbow, please", and of course, the response: "There ya go".

Some days the whole RPG forum feels like a chat room! :D

(BTW, I lost about 250 posts from my PC after the reduction - not that I should complain.)

Hadn't joined the demo game for ages but knew it's to separate out all the threads for easier navigation by posters. In the first demo game, all the info threads, polls, votes, dept threads etc were jumbled up in one forum and it was hard to find threads. ;)

For this second demo game, they have organised a new section for role-playing so that the average citizens would also have more reason to participate actively.

The mods or some of the players shld be able to fill in more details about this. ;)

I don't really come here for Civ mainly at all; only for the great company. ;) :D As with a number of other posters.

Lost about 30 and I had never ever stepped into that place..... :crazyeye: :hmm:

The fact is the RPG requires a LOT of short, even spammy posts. This way we can feel free to post what we need to in there.

Also, people complained.

And shaitan couldn't care less about his pc ;)

i lost quite alot but if people only joined cos of postcount theyyll leave now which may be a good thing

It wouldn't be the first time that a forum was segregated from the others here. :D

Never cared about PC and never will.

Ithe same line of thought, this would go for the OT forum as well.

How on earth can threads like 'What color is your underwear' with 666 replies varying from 'red' to white to 'what are you talking about', preferrably WITH poll, threads that have even less (not to say completely NOTHING) to do with civ be taken more 'serious' than the RPG?

Yes, but the whole forum isn't dedicated to threads like that, and people complain about those as well.

And if there's too many of them, AoA and Lefty start closing them and banning people who start more of them. :goodjob:

Well, in fact i have nothing against not counting the rpg posts. The rpg-forum is in nature more like a "offline chat".
You buy things, trade things, talk, roleplay. By the nature of this subject, those are many posts compared to pure civ3 posts.
I definitely do not see them as spam though, as they are exactly on topic, because the topic in that subforum IS rpg and not civ3.

It ought to be made clear to posters there that although posting in the RPG forum will not count towards your postcount (upon which my views are already well-known), this does not mean that the forum can turn into a new Peanut Gallery or anything like the 'poly OT.
They may not count for your post count, but you shouldn't think this means that your posts will not be treated differently to others in the forums. Posts with only a few words are fine, but spamming and flaming and posting of lewd links will ruin the RPG for everyone and will be dealt with as harshly as they would elsewhere.
Anyways [he says, trying to be nonchalant], that's something like how I'd phrase it. :)

I don't think that'll be necessary. The RPG forum is buried as a subforum of the Demogame, so is unlikely to attract much attention from random troublemakers. Any such posters who do find their way there will swiftly discover that the Civ3 Demogame mods come down on that kinda crap like a ton of bricks.
