1st in the Premiership!
Well, things have changed around here! We have no chieftain, a failed coup against the science officer, the warlords office has been inactive for 7 days (despite several warnings that i gave for being away) and there is once again a complete meltdown over polls.
I can see why dutchfire has left, and I am having doubts myself, due to the nature of this interal conflict we have here. We have a culture of negative politics in this game, which may work in the real world, but it has no place here in the GAME
We fight over the smallest things, and it is getting annoying now because you can't have a good disscussion over what to do. Instead of finding a tactic that gives us the best chance in the game, we always seem to fight and end up with one half of people upset, and another half happy, which is not how this game should be like.
This polling thing also gets up my nose. If a poll says do this, then do it. If it is a tie (which i think is the case with the democracy polls), then it is up to the offical that has control over the subject matter. There is no need to keep polling until you get a result that you are happy with.
Fighting is not the way to run this game. Someone needs to be in control, because anarchy is clearly not working for us. This may be a radical proposal, but how about giving the chieftain final say on
each subject, giving him real control over what happens in government, because right now, he is just a figure head, a weak leader over departments which have so much power. No wonder things have gone wrong when you give individual people so much power without any real system to rein them in.
There is no reason why the science officer has to make a poll about the next tech, he could just research whatever he fancies, governors can change there city tiles that might benefit them but always the country. I could say we will throw everything at one city, which might result in heavy losses for small gains and there be no real way to stop me from doing it. Of course you could coup me (and i would advise you to coup me if i did that!
), but it would be a reaction to something thats has happen and can't always be reserved.
I do think though, that we are a bunch of people who can work out their differences. You all have different qualities which are much needed in this game, and yes it is annoying when things don't go your way, but give it a chance, if it works well then thats great for the game, if it dosen't work, then we can go back and say maybe his/her idea was a better one and adpot that.
This is a democracy, it sucks but we need stop fighting over things and start disscussing things and coming up with a good few ideas.
However i think we need to stop swapping insults around to each other, otherwise there might not be many people playing this game anymore and it would be a real shame
.
