Well, things have changed around here! We have no chieftain, a failed coup against the science officer, the warlords office has been inactive for 7 days (despite several warnings that i gave for being away) and there is once again a complete meltdown over polls.

I can see why dutchfire has left, and I am having doubts myself, due to the nature of this interal conflict we have here. We have a culture of negative politics in this game, which may work in the real world, but it has no place here in the GAME

We fight over the smallest things, and it is getting annoying now because you can't have a good disscussion over what to do. Instead of finding a tactic that gives us the best chance in the game, we always seem to fight and end up with one half of people upset, and another half happy, which is not how this game should be like.

This polling thing also gets up my nose. If a poll says do this, then do it. If it is a tie (which i think is the case with the democracy polls), then it is up to the offical that has control over the subject matter. There is no need to keep polling until you get a result that you are happy with.

Fighting is not the way to run this game. Someone needs to be in control, because anarchy is clearly not working for us. This may be a radical proposal, but how about giving the chieftain final say on
each subject, giving him real control over what happens in government, because right now, he is just a figure head, a weak leader over departments which have so much power. No wonder things have gone wrong when you give individual people so much power without any real system to rein them in.
There is no reason why the science officer has to make a poll about the next tech, he could just research whatever he fancies, governors can change there city tiles that might benefit them but always the country. I could say we will throw everything at one city, which might result in heavy losses for small gains and there be no real way to stop me from doing it. Of course you could coup me (and i would advise you to coup me if i did that! :)), but it would be a reaction to something thats has happen and can't always be reserved.

I do think though, that we are a bunch of people who can work out their differences. You all have different qualities which are much needed in this game, and yes it is annoying when things don't go your way, but give it a chance, if it works well then thats great for the game, if it dosen't work, then we can go back and say maybe his/her idea was a better one and adpot that.
This is a democracy, it sucks but we need stop fighting over things and start disscussing things and coming up with a good few ideas.

However i think we need to stop swapping insults around to each other, otherwise there might not be many people playing this game anymore and it would be a real shame :(.

Joe.

I agree with Joe Harker here. We need a good government structure, not more anarcho-liberal chaos. The game is getting too complex for the present model.

Moderator Action: All this "anarcho-*" stuff is flaming, and I've seen enough. Warned, this time.

Stop with this...its old. It offers NO HELP. Joe is right and this is the government. Last game we had someone who wanted to change governments half way through. It DOESNT WORK. Either work with our current government or frankly...leave. Wholesale changes will not be the answer. What if an untested government starts and has issues..dump it and move on to yet another one. If this one has issues..write an amendment to fix one issue at a time like a real government. Not everyone will see eye to eye with you and that doesnt mean a grand conspiracy. Drop the over dramatizing everything..and lets play the game in the game.

Polls should be followed those that dont follow them need to be JR out of office. AND no citizen should vote for them in the next election.

I have already focussed the willingness to improve the game in the OT - next game threads. I will take a more passive role in the remainder of the game, but nevertheless, not only I think the present set-up is less than the minimum standard. For the "over-dramatizing" part, I am not the only one causing drama, and maybe we need a system where drama is less rewarded. As I said earlier, we obviously disagree on how to do things, which is fine. From now on I will concentrate efforts on setting up something like a BTS demogame.

And if you were so constructive Robboo, you should begin to add stuff in the discussion threads, upload maps and so on, not snuff out discussions on how to improve the game. If we are not happy with the metagame mechanisms, let us discuss it, and improve it (I am concentrating the efforts into next game already).

I know you want me to leave, but I stay here for the next game discussions.

100 uploaded maps wont improve things. I am trying to improve the game. Methos has a PM with that info as its a personal matter.

As I said before...I am just returning to this game. If you look I have voted in recent polls and have been quietly lurking gettign back up to speed. There is no reason to post my opinion if someone else has done so already. Like most people my age with jobs(cough cough Daveshack) we cant post on every single thread.

My comments were not directed JUST to you. I suggest letting this game end before running another demogame...to many people would leave this or pick one and you wont have either succeed. We could have this game buttoned up and won in less than 2-3 months, if we go back to the quick pace we had before.

IF you have any more comments directed to ME only...PM me. In order to keep the threads clean. My comments were directed to every one except for the first sentences.

You are right, we should wrap up the game in 2-3 months, but I do not feel for writing a minor amendment on this one, it's a waste. I answer in kind in public posts, unless someone PM me directly. I am quite certain the post was directed at me, as it was opened with my citation.

I do not believe there is a grand conspiracy here (only a forum game), but I am more than certain there is strong favoritism and comraderie, as the very same actions get very different reactions.

But you are right, wrap up this game before a new starts.

I agree with most of what you write Joe but I wish you appointed a deputy Warlord before you left for a few days.

I did, it was Provolution. I announced it in the second post! :)

I was only an admiral, for the navy, nothing more, that was the deal.

I thought you agreed to post instruction while i was away? :crazyeye:
