mmmkay, I don't know if this has been reported or not, but I think I'm getting a bug with "Peace treaties"

Every now and then I get a message that says, "Deal Canceled: Peace treaty to [Insert name here] for Peace treaty for 10 turns." The problem is that I NEVER GO TO WAR WITH THESE PEOPLE!

I have one screenshot

look at the top of the screen

this happens in every game, not just the FF scenario

Prob not a bug, you get a peace treaty when you accept a tribute demand, it is prob just that treaty that has expired

Ah, that explains my current game. They need to atleast put that on the tradetable that this action will create a peace treaty. Wierd.

Anytime you negotiate a trade that involves anything "per turn", you will have a fixed peace treaty for 10 turns or whatever depending on the scaling ie. gamespeed. For example, you might trade pigs for corn, and when the ten turns are up, the message will come up saying peace treaty cancelled. What they mean is that the trade can now be broken and you can now declare war.

They should certainly do something to make this clearer because it does look confusing to frequently get messages about cancelled peace treaties. I don't mind personally because I now know what it means, but it's confusing to new players.

So really peace treaties are just the things you go into when you make a trade for ten turns. In this time, you can't declare war. However when such a trade has not been made, you can declare war at any time, and so there is no peace treaty.

Hope this makes sense.

^^ Does that include Open Borders? Because I just got that message with Bismarck but all I did was sign Open Borders. The two OBs I signed with other people that I met before him didn't give me that.

Yes of course. Well what I meant before was a trade of anything which is not instantly completed. Trading maps for example does not force a peace treaty. Open borders does.

I did forget to mention that demands/requests for tribute also enforce the peace treaty for ten turns. This is a common one to see as well.

hmm, that is why I'm forced into peace treaties. Stupid game not letting me exact tribute and then conquer

IMO it's a bug, suddenly i got 8 deal cancelled: peace treaty with all civs in game cancelled. With some of the civs in game i was also friendly.

this is probably because of AoP solution. but i don't know what the 'peace treaty canceled' is about.

In my latest game I had repeated deals canceled without warning. There used to be a popup of the leader saying We're canceling this deal, and allowed you to click Would you reconsider, or Care to negotiate. The only reason I would know these were canceled was because of the events scrolling or noticing the resource was gone.

I had Friendly relations with America. Was trading Cow and Hit singles for american Corn and Gems. Also had open boarders. All of a sudden I noticed that I was missing the corn, so I contact america and it seems they have been canceled. I redo the Same trade, and open boarders. Next turn they cancel again, no contact from America telling me This deal is off, just cancels in the event spam.

This happened over and over again, every couple of turns I would have to recontact america and get the trade back.

The only thing I could think of is an embargo from AP? I am not a member of it, I see no mention of a resolution in events. However if it is an embargo how could he re-trade the next turn?

Also there were other civs that did not have the AP religion that would break open boarders with me at Pleased / Friendly, with No contact popup, and then not want to re-sign them for a few turns. It's strange because one of the weaker civs would sign defensive pact with me, but not re-sign open boarders. I moused over the red open boarders and it said something like "Not right now, maybe in a few years".

I dont know if this would anwser this problem, but...

If I conntact a civ well down in the list, and simply ofer them a really old tech, and ask what they would like to give.
Often there is a massive list of stuff that they would give me. This nearly always includes;
All the money they have
Some Money per Turn
Their map
And Peace
