Peloponnesian War Scenario Development Thread

I got that, it's just that you've been kinda rushed before. (Like asking Kryten for the units every other day. He's promised to do other things, some of them almost a year ago, but, as he says: "Busy, busy, busy, Kryten :crazyeye: ") Things will get done, don't worry so much. :)

This scenario will be made in due time. :thumbsup: :)

Or as the saying goes: Take it easy, you will have time to take all the exams before you graduate. ;)

Alright...Mrtn, man of various sayings and proverbs...:rolleyes: Have I asked units from Kryten thayt much? Darn, I'm tryin' to cut down on requests...Sorry, its a bad habit of mine...:(

Ok, I'll post these as a gif.

I call this sparta, but its a general city concept from AoE. I think I might get rid od the big pathenon and leave that only for an athens set.

Other ideas include make more white ones but with blue roofs from the dodecanese islands and also red instead of white for Minoa/crete.

I call this one Athens because I tried to make an acropolis look to it. Not sure you'll like it. I'm trying to think of ways to vary the look of the cities but its limited because of AOE only has a few buildings.

I think I'll post the buildings individually because others can do well. (Emperor Xerxes might be interested).

Ekmek, I like them, but do you think you could do them with a palette with more reds in? I think that the roofs look too spotty, and you only have three reds in the entire palette.

We'll use 'em Ekmek, but couldja perhaps make a version 2 with all/mostly red roofs? Don't get me wrong, they're wonderful! Great job!
:goodjob::thumbsup::worship::thumbsup::goodjob:

P.S. Ekmek, is there some sort of Greek Forge we could use in AoE???:confused:

Spartan always wore red! Always! But I don't think it matters. I think most of the rooftops were red...Kryten, Xen, wouldja like to comment?:D
Civ specific rooftops would be nice, but we have more than 6 civs, so some rooftops would be repeated:(...I think they should all be red...:undecide:

I prefer not to have civ specific roofs. Pink is always ugly, even if it's on a roof. ;)

Ekmek, do you reduce the size while in 256 colours? At least in Photoshop it's better to change to RGB, reduce, and go to 256 again, with a new palette. This will give a blurred effect, just remember to choose (choose is not the perfect word, damn this foreign language ;) ) everything but the magenta. :)

the classic med building is white walls, with a red roof :) a nice combination in my opinion, living in area where most of the houses are like that :) (or rather in the similer spanish colonial style)

yes sparta was red- but in the game I would cjange it to the DEEP red- as they wore scarlet clockes to hide any blood bleeding out ;)

Nice ideas, but i think they should all be kept the same...Some other ideas might be to have Carthage, Etruscans, and Romans their own culture groups...Unfortunately, Greeks, Romans and Etruscans weren't too much different when it came to build style...:( Is this correct? P.S. I thought Macedon was DEEP red, and Sparta was a more traditional red???:confused:

Rome is a good choice for traditional red, and Spartais refered to as having use dscarlet cloaks- macedon was weird, and by ANY ONES standards had colourful troops, a great dea in pastel colours...

Okay, then...Dark red for Sparta, something for Macedon:confused:, and traditional red for Rome...Sounds good!:goodjob:

Colours.....

You know, it's a strange thing, but many of the famous successful armies in history dressed their soldiers in red:-
Sparta = red
Thebes = red
Xenophon's 10,000 mercenary Hoplites = red
Macedonians = red
Roman Legionaries = red
British Musketmen = red ( :D )
Even the decks of the British 18th & 19th century sailing ships were painted....red.

Still, we can cut this down a bit for the scenario.
Rome at this time used Hoplite type troops, who were rich citizens that paid for their own arms, armour, equipment and clothing, like almost every other city-state of that time. So they can be any colour (red uniforms didn't come into use until much later, probably after the army was reformed into legionaries following the sack of Rome by the Gauls in 387 BC).
Thebes seems to have adopted red at the time of Epamondas in about 370 BC (probably in imitation of the Spartans).
Macedonia was still a largely tribal region at this time, and only adopted standardised state issue red uniforms following Philip II's reforms of 360 BC (probably in imitation of Thebes).

So that just leaves the Spartans wearing red in the scenario. :)

but since there two reds, I would thin the most fitting wearers of them would be Sparta, and ROme, as most depictions fo Macedonian troops I have seen have them in assorted pastel cloulors...

I havent tried the RGB, I'll give it a shot. But C3C is coming out so expect a delay. I can post the building cuts if anyone wants to make their own. (This jpg can help too)

The roofs in the screenie are perfect! These'll look great!
