Perhaps this should be corrected in a patch

Dido chooses Autocracy. She proposes Autocracy as a W.I.

Dido is overwhelmed because her paltry tourism can't withstand mine. She caves and switches to Freedom.

W.C. comes, she votes against her own proposal. I also vote against it (3/13 votes) just to make sure it doesn't pass by a fluke.

She then says I "helped her proposal to fail." It would have failed even without my help! :crazyeye:

That, right there my friends, is annoying. Had this happened to me once ... and it was Elizabeth

As long as she doesn't start thanking me instead. It's not like she should be pleased with the situation, on the whole.

Seems humanly realistic to me. People love to blame others for their own foul ups- You provided that excuse for her!

If she switched to Freedom, I'm not sure why you voted against it though. Unless there were other autocratic civs in the game? Other freedom/order civs will definitely vote against it so this would've never passed regardless.

But it could use a fix, yeah.

^ This.
If you are sure that a vote will fail without your votes, you can just take your votes elsewhere. No harm in that, especially in case of world ideology.

Yeah, I've had this happen a lot too. Kind of annoying, hopefully they fix this. Civs should judge whether you vote on their interests, and not assume that their proposals are still in their interest.

Also, I feel like if I vote against my own embargo, that shouldn't provide a diplomatic penalty beyond what I already clearly have. A luxury resource only I have, sure, that's fine, but voting against something that is definitively intended to hurt you shouldn't give a diplo penalty.

I recently played a 22 civ Earth TSL game. The three powers (Me (Poland), Russia, and Arabia) all had 3 different ideologies. I proposed Freedom as the W.I. in the congress and got it to pass.

When everyone else started to get ideologies, only ONE other civ adopted freedom.

Now, why would you adopt an ideology that gives you no extra delegates, when you can adopt Freedom and get 2 extra delegates? Why would you even vote for Freedom if you aren't even going to adopt it?

Seems silly.

I would welcome any kind of patch seeing how it has been a month with no hotfix or update.
