All,

Does anyone know how to get this to work? Is there something I need to set in the .ini file to get it to send out emails?

Has anyone gotten this to work?

Thx

First off, it is completely busted prior to 1.61. With 1.61, you need to set your email account and password properly when setting up PitBoss. Then each of your players needs to go into their Game Options and set their email. I've tested this with 1.61 and it works just fine.

Oh ya, you won't be able to send the emails via a Gmail account either.

I am running 1.61 (Civ4). I assume you are referring to that and not the Pitboss version, right?

I use roadrunner as my ISP (cable modem). I assume I just use the following :
server: smtp-server.tampabay.rr.com
name : myemail@tampabay.rr.com
password : my password

Is there anything else I have to set? Anything in the .ini file?
I tried all of this and set up a test game with only 2 human opponents and logged onto one, took a turn and logged out. I was expecting an email to get sent when a new turn was ready.

Any ideas of what I could be doing wrong?

Both actually. If you do a File -> About in the Pitboss menu it should give you a 1.61 version number as well.

I'm not sure how roadrunner works but usually the name would not be an email address but an account name. So I would expect something closer to:

server: tampabay.rr.com
name : myemail
password : my password

No.

I think the odds are good that it's the info you're entering in Pitboss for your roadrunner account.

Finally, I got it to work.

I was entering my account name and password. Seems that I don't have to enter any of that info. All it needs is my smtp address and a return email.

Is there any way to change the default email message?

Thx

No you cannot change the message.

Have you actually tried having it send an email to players other than you? Generally you can relay off of an SMTP server without a name/pass but only to people on the same domain. So it will work to send an email to you, but not to other people. Might want to check.

Also, if you're running a Pitboss game, I recommend checking out my CivStats.com service. :)
